The Grand Prize (2013 trip to the U.S. Open) will be given away on a sweepstakes win and not based on a players skill. So the player who shoots the lowest score shares the same prize as the other 156 players who make the cut.

This just took all the fun out of trying to qualify for me. Here I'm restarting, taking notes, and trying to shoot as low as I can and all I get is a cap for my trouble, and a slim chance at winning the sweepstakes.

I can see the t-shirt now, "I came in first place in the WGT virtual U.S. Open and all I got was this cap" LOL!!!

The back of the t-shirt will say, "A Master who merely posted a score in the WGT virtual U.S. Open won the Grand Prize"

This has to be disappointing for the top 10 or 20 best players who were looking for a chance at the Grand Prize based on their skill.

Perhaps you better read the official rules and regulations again. One US Open trip for a random sweepstakes winner and one US Open trip to the winner of the virtual US Open. That was a lot of ranting and raving over nothing. Try reading the whole post.  Best regards.

Thanks for the heads-up Dan. It wasn't a rant. I'm glad those players can win a trip on their skill.

I wonder is Sam (Bolly) has figured out how to mass ban the usual neds who post cheat on his wall every time the open qualifiers come round.

Perhaps he's gonna use the reverse psychology technique and just keep the 56 which might divert the numpties to the current leader's wall.....but knowing the Duluth Dominator, he'll be after the perfect round.

Good luck to everyone by the way.

If or when I qualify...I'm not looking forward to high winds on this course lol. The champ greens I can deal with....but if folks thought high winds round RSG were bad, the wrong high wind set on Olympic will be a nightmare.

First off, I don't really have the ability to go REAL low. Having said that, I just shot 68 my first crack at Olympic. I hit every fairway up until the par 5 16th, meter stopped dead on me into the trees on the left. No problem right? 40/50 lie get it back in play. Hit the ding thinking no prob %&*#@$ ball goes I can only guess between my legs O.B. lost ball. A tidy little quad, birdied 17 & 18 for -2. All can say is without the meter job on 16 I shoot 64 first time I see the course. If I can do that look the hell out, very easy greens to putt (only Bethpage has easier greens to putt IMO) The big boys are gonna tear this place up, early prediction here cut will be 58 max. JB    Side note: was hitting my 5th shot on 16 from 476 yards out LOL.

I'm with ya about starting over, done it myself many times. But I played the Open right after it was started last night. There were no scores on the leaderboard. I played one complete round without starting over. By the time i finished that one complete round there was already a 56 posted. I was the second one to post a score. Which means the 56 was posted in roughly the same amount of time as my round. Which also means it was done without any start overs. Just wham bam here's my 56 see if you can beat it.
