The scorecard says 248 yards and  its down 62 ft...For me, thats a choke down 3wood, but I can't seem to hit it pin high on this bugger..

Can somebody help me out with a yardage they think the hole is playing? (no wind)

    thanks..

I take off 20 yards so I play it 228 yards. Works o.k. if I ding it. So yes a choked 3wood, or with a little tailwind I drop to my 220 yard 3 iron.

Alot depends on the clubs you are using.  Thus, what works for tm 2.0 lvl 79 irons, will not be the same as the R11 lvl 90 irons.  Check out my replay on this hole.  The hole was playing with a 14 mph cross-tail wind at 2'oclock.  As you can see, I am using an iron, and you are using a 3wood.  I do not know what to suggest for this hole with your clubs.  Wind, is a major factor here.

i play it 247...and keep in mind that the extra time in the air means the wind will have a bigger impact (tail winds will carry it further, etc.)

248 -21=227. Play to this yardage, more times than not a 3i with R11s. Wind in your face will help knock the 3W down but any helping wind will carry the iron, even cross winds.

tx YJ...question...on downhill shots, I usually subtract 1 yard of distance for every 4 feet downhill ...your math implies a 1/3 ratio...?

uphill, i usually add 1 yard for every 3 feet of up elevation...

Convert the elevation to yards. 62 feet is 21 yards (20+2 feet-close enough.) Trying to nail an exact distance with these severe elevations is tricky because they affect the club distance depending on the loft of the club. I just go with the simple addition/subtraction after converting the feet to yards and then think about how the shot is going to be affected.

On that par 3, the wind really makes a difference if it's in your face but in any other wind, the 3i can handle it  if you use spin to compensate. This is with the moderate winds we're seeing now. The High winds you just know you're going to see in the finals is going to be a different story. :-)

Yes, it is usually a job for the R11 3 iron, this hole, for me.  And I find it's roughley 225 to get it down pin high, taking the windage into account of course.

With Callaways and level 79 burners and crosswind only, it comes in at a perfect 3 iron (rated at 220 yards). Little or no backspin because with the elevation the ball will drop vertically at the end rather than rolling out.
