I'm currently at Level 42.  I'm using the stock driver, irons, and ball at the moment.

Earlier this week I upgraded my wedges and purchased the Level 38+ Satins in 54, 60, and 64.  I took the hybrid out of my bag and have been playing all three.  They have made an enormous improvement around the greens and the credits were well spent on those items.  Seeing how much of a difference they have made, compared to the stock wedges, has obviously led to the upgrade itch.

I've been trying to hold out for the other gear around the 59+ levels, but it seems as though I'm still quite a ways off from that.  The one thing I'm sure of is waiting for the Rossa putter.  I'm putting just fine with the stock one so no itch there, but the driver especially is another story.  Hitting 225 sucks.  Not being able to even reach the fairway on your drive on a few of those Olympic Course holes SUCKS.

I have right at 3200 credits to work with.  What would you suggest I do?  A or B?

    A.  Upgrade now to the Lv. 29 R11 Driver (or Lv. 37 K15) and a set of the Lv. 32 R11 irons

    B.  Grind it out and wait for the Lv. 58 G20 Driver and Lv. 59 G20 irons

Please give me your input on this.

Choose option "B". No explanation as to why is needed.

You can level-up faster with "Boost" and ranked rounds.

    I appreciate the feedback Richard.

I think I can hold off on the irons just fine but picking up a new driver is quite tempting.

    No problem Subtle.

Don't waste the credits on a driver to get you by when your going to upgrade to a good driver at level 58. You should just play ranked rounds and post scores everyday. You'll be at level 58 in no time. It doesn't take too long to level-up on the lower levels. Keep at it.

    Hittem' straight my friend.

You're going to be in meter shock when you start swinging that R9. The K15 is closer to what you're used to. That being said, you're going to need a faster meter eventually if you want to get into the better equipment. There's a lot to be said for mixing meter speeds, too. Balls slow it down but when you're swinging 3 different meters it gets a little tough.

A longer driver will get those shorter clubs in your hands and if you're doing OK with those starters, the driver makes a big difference. Keep in mind, those distance ratings are enhanced by the balls, too. Eventually, you want to wind up with clubs that have HIGH loft. Look at those sets.

I used that R9 for a long time and it was well worth learning. Plus, slogging through rounds to get to the next level takes the fun out of the game. Enjoy it on the way. Treat yourself.  :-) GL.

I agree: Wait for the better equipment.

One possible intermediate improvement might be the lvl 37 K15 3WD as a complement or even a replacement of the Starter driver.

And, as an Amateur, play other courses than the Open Qualifier - you'll soon advance to a better tier!

Thank you Jim and alosso for your feedback.

I hadn't considered the 3W option alosso, thank you for pointing that out.

Now THAT before a driver or decent irons  would be a waste of credits at this stage of your game.

    Hey there,

The route i took is the same one you are considering about the G20 clubs. Hold back and w8 for them, if you dont and you buy clubs now you will soon realise that you wasted credits on clubs that wont take you far in this game. The G20 clubs will be able to take you all the way to legend lvl if you learn them.

Trust me and do what i done which is w8 till lvl 59 and then get the G20 set, you wont be dissapointed

As for the tough courses with your small driver i know its tough but that driver will teach you all about long shots on approach to green's and that will stand you in good stead for moving up the tiers.

Im still using the g20 set and it has taken me to tour master lvl from tour pro which i reached with starter clubs.

    hope this helps

    regards

Quick yardage off the tee (and cheap) is the Tour Driver, 245 yard, IIRC, and will help ya reach out in the mean time.

Meter is quick, but you'll need to get used to it anways.

I'm thinking the driver is about a level 7 or so? and about 150-200 credits.  Quick bang for your buck.

    Edit:

It's the "Pro Driver" at 250 credits I'm thinking of.
