    Ryder Cup is Match Play--You could win a hole Eagle, Eagle vs Par.Par--still 1 up

    Best ball on a team basis;

    For example;

    USA;   Birdie, Birdie

    World;  Birdie, Eagle

    World wins the hole and goes 1-up;  Birdie is only counted once, and the eagle is only counted once;

    Example 2;

    USA;  Par, Par

    World;  Birdie, Eagle;

    World goes 2-up, par is counted only once, and the eagle only once.

    It is the best score per team on a hole basis.

    Its match play you only count the 2 low balls from each team---you can't count two balls from same team on same hole

    You count the lowest score on each team, and only once.

    I see where you are coming from shadow but that would be best ball strokeplay the Ryder is matchplay

    I agree, if it is match play. But the low score being counted adds some ambiguity.  Perhaps Seve can clarify.

    What we have her is a failure to communicate--You never count both balls of the same team only low score counts from each team. You NEVER factor in the combined score in any sanctioned Match unless it is specified. Ryder Cup has never been played with combined scores---4 balls in play-low ball wins.

    MatchPlay-not total score
