I have been a member of WGT for over a month now and am still leaving balls right next to the hole on my putts.  I rented or purchased every putter in stock and none of them have corrected this fault.  I realize the meter and reading the green correctly are essential but why do I consistently not get the ball in the cup? Any Equipment or Technique advice would be sincerely appreciated!

There are two main differing approaches vanceesharp,

Many who try to get the ball to hole with the closest length as possible, to leave it close for a tap in if missed, and there are others who use a little extra to take some break out of the putt and make sure it has enough length. It's your preference, and sometimes you have to change this approach depending on the hole/green.

If you don't already utilize it, try the 'reverse view' when putting, as it focuses the view at the cup and allows you to aim according to the break that is near the end of the putt, nearer the cup, when the ball is slowing and more susceptible to break.

Also, use the search box over there (→) on the right and search for putting tips, and you will get a lot of other information from a lot of other players who are far mow advanced than I !

You are already set up with a Rosa putter, so that isn't your issue - learn from thhose above you and practice practice, practice!

    good luck,

    VaHaLo

Are you aiming the same way every time to get these results? Or thinking the same way when you aim? I used to miss putts on the low side of the hole, putts that were dinged. I was real consistent doing it to the point I got so aggravated that I aimed purposefully twice what I thought I should once. DOH! The putt went in. Get radical with your aiming just to see what happens. I'm betting you'll get it rather quickly. GL

Good rules of thumb in the prior posts.  Just as an added note, for putts that look pretty straight, or have just the slightest roll on them, dont give away the hole (dont add for break that doesnt exist and aimed outside the edges).  Aim inside edge, or center, and add some speed.  Speed kills break.

Before you do any of thise on the course, do it in practice

Edit:  Also, after taking a look at some of your stats, try to work on your average distance to hole on your approach shots.  You are at 21ft, if you look at the top players they are usually below 15ft.  What does that mean?  Closer putts.

Need an opinion, I am buying a putter. Ping iWi Anser, or the TaylorMade Spider... either one is going to be better than the stock putter. What do ya think?

Hands down the Anser. It's twice as accurate and sets you up nice when you want to get the Redwood because you'll be used to the meter.

Sounds good, thx Yank! I am now at the Pro level, Able to buy better items. I was about to purchase a full set and I played another round, and got to Pro. I will now have to seek out what sets and drivers I might want.

I would hold out for the Daytona.

Ended up with the Redwood from Ping. I can always trade up to Daytona. Still trying to figure a few small things out with the new clubs and putter.

Good move. The Daytona isn't a trade up, it just has a couple of different features. 60 scale instead of 45 and slower meter. Learn that Redwood and you'll be happy. GL
