    Aceydeucy - things are a bit more complicated we modeled your solution but quitting actually increased when we locked in the exp at the beginning of the round.  People would get 3 friends, start a round and then the 3 friends would leave and the single player would continue with the extra xp.

     

    We already do our best to reward people for finishing with bonus XP at the end. The only other solution is to punish people for disconnecting and since we cannot determine the cause we do not want to take negative action on the many to stop the few.

    many times I get game ending errors & I don't mean to leave at all let alone quit. But alas I have had so many game ending errors for some reason, I don't like to play with others very much for that reason.

    Or when I have gotten unexpectedly booted & I get "Quitter!" on my wall or much worse, because I got booted? School yard crap there.

    When you play matchplay or skins match and a player gets cut off everyone waits in the lobby for them to re join, why can’t that also be available for stoke play games?

    That way any player who gets disconnected has time to re join.  As I said before a player who has to leave the match for fair and legit reasons can have a option in the menu to leave and all remaining players click agreed and that way the remaining players get their full XP points. 

    Plus if a player fails to re join after 5 minutes  its clear they quit the game as it doesn’t take 5 minutes to sign back in and re join and maybe then you can take away XP points from their current amount but still give remaining players their full amount!

    Hey I have an idea....Be like me and care about your avg score!

    I have yet to quit any game, apart from WGT crashing, even if a player quits and crashes the game I reload and finish on my own.

    I'm proud of my avg/stats etc.

    If you go into forum often you will have seen a comment from me about quitters, but since then i have had time to reflect,how does anybody know if things happen in a golfers game that we cannot help but quit for instance, caught short, girlfriend or wife arrives etc etc etc how many of our married golfers tell the wife I cannot do what you want I am playing golf, c'mon give and take guys

    Here is a possible solution I offered up in one of the other forums.  Again, this is all just MHO and not meant to create any problems.

    This is actually a very good point.  It is very possible to add a stat to a player that shows how many MP disconnects they have had.  I realize that it will not determine the difference between accidental and intentional disconnects but I believe that can be remedied like you do averages.  For example, you could only use last 35 MP games to pull the disconnect stats from.  That way those that are guilty of quitting for the wrong reasons will be given the opportunity to adjust their mindset.  And those that have bad connections have the opportunity to remedy those as well.  If you have such a connection that you will always have high disconnect numbers than you probably should not be playing MP and imposing said bad connection on your fellow players. Unfortunate but true.  

    I mean lets be honest.  If you have a high disconnect rate it would be for one of 3 reasons.  1. You quit a lot for your own personal reasons which could include things such as your stats or your performance etc.  2. You have a bad internet connection or a problem with your ip connecting to WGT on a regular basis.  3. Honest reasons because of unforeseen situations that arise.  Of course number 3 should not cause a high disconnect rate unless you happen to be a terrible planner of your schedule or have terrible luck.  As a matter of fact.  Number 3 would probably not cause a high disconnect rate provided you plan your time for you MP games accordingly. 

    An example of how I see this working would be something along the lines of the following.  If a player connects to a game and he has a 95% disconnect rate then that only represents his last 35 MP games.  For every MP game he plays beyond that without disconnecting that number would go down because you only count the last 35 games.  This is just a rough hypothetical just to get my thought across and represents the comparison I made to the way averages are calculated.

    If you are worried about getting games after acquiring a high disconnect rate for whatever reason, you can always request some friends or club members to play you allowing  you to reduce your disconnect rate and make you a viable partner again for MP.  If you abuse this sort of tactic then it will be noticed as well as your friends being tired of playing you just to bring down your numbers.  And then that will all be on you.

    This is all just my humble opinion and is not meant to do anything but provide a viable, (my opinion) solution.  I really think this could work but again, Just MHO.  Thank you all for your time.

    Good post Nuke. While there are alot of ways to get this issue sorted out I believe something has to be done eventually.

    What that something is would be crucial in determining who is a quitter and who's not.

    Wether they quit on purpose or just have a bad protocol setup or whatever, I certainly would'nt choose to play with either .

    2 things would happen though. The quitters would probably not quit as much and the user with internet issues will try and figure out what their problem is and fix it. Its a win win if you ask me.

    ya know , i used to care mightily about quitters, not because of whatever reason (honor, etc) but because it costs me TIME and even more, quitters cost me MONEY.

    I have to sit there and wait 5 minutes between shots (9 x 5 = 45 minutes) watching some random  sand bagger "pro" hit level 83+ g20 driver off the pro tees expecting me to be all giddy cuz he went so far, while some poor, random newbie is hitting starters. The sand bagger quits after the 9th hole approach so their -7 doesn't  bring down their average, the newbie then quits cuz his +7 doesn't transform him into a legend. Now, i have wasted 45 minutes trying to meet players and get some extra XP, and have done neither, All i have done is wasted a 1/2 a round of my 1.00 ball's life and twice the time it would have taken me to do a 9 holer solo.

    I don't care anymore cuz i figured out that self made CC tournys offer the best bang for buck in terms of XP per hit and time spent doing so.

    Also leading me not to care is realizing that WGT could care less about multi-accounters, sand baggers or quitters.

    The real reason they don't "allow" multi-accounts is the surveys, offers and videos to earn credits, then use those "free" credits to gift  their main account gear.Mutli accounters here are rampant, how else are pro's shooting 58s?

    Anything else they say is nonsense. They don't care about the same 5 guys winning every tourny. Not 1 iota. They get their money from balls,  the "rake" from "skill based competition"(skins/challenges)and of course their "partners" peanut and livegamer.

    Too bad they don't realize, that all these conditions cost them money .

    I have suggested previously, all they need to do is show a "Rounds Started/ Rounds Completed" ratio. Then you can make an informed decision as to proceed.

    Til then, if you are playing multi-player stroke for the bonus XP, just don't.

    Hi I am thominto   a nd I am angry because a golfer with the name of brumla74 has called me a coward by email accused me of quitting after 1 shot, I do not  remember this name at all but I would never quit  after oneshot   w hat would be the point unless an unforseen circumstance arose, the reason i am using forum is that  I can find no other way to reply but I say this if brumla 74 emails me and gives his own e mail addrss i will see if we can sort this out, but I am no coward.

    How about a prorated system? In real life most golf courses do not give rain checks for leaving the golf course, even if it's for a legitimate reason. Once you are into the game out on the golf course the money belongs to the course with no real expectation of the player to get a refund.

    Perhaps WGT could take something like 50% of the entry/prize credits and make that a guarantee. The other 50% could gradually be applied over the course of the round, It is unfair to those who are disconnected by WGT servers but it leaves the game more fair for those who are left in the game. It forces the "quitters" to have some credits invested in the game instead of refunding all of their credits as a reward for quitting. For people who quit for other legitimate reasons, consider it as though you paid the golf course to play and at least the golf course gave you some of your money back when you left.

    Of course, this all depends on having an analysis of the disconnects. If most  disconnects are the game's fault, this becomes totally unacceptable. If most disconnects are people actually quitting then it might be a start down the road to a solution.
