    Infinito3010:
    is adapt

Seems not everyone is adept to spelling either.

    Infinito3010:
without expert knowledge being shared in a step by step guide.

LOL, flash is all about available memory and cpu. thats it , nothing else. Mostly memory. If you have a bunch of garbage loading with windows it is eating your memory- useless invasive toolbars and the like.

There was a gal in the forums once with a 'brand new' laptop - she insisted the meter was a WGT problem and in no way could be related to her 'brand new' lap top.

With some probing we discovered it was a low end AMD with 2gb ram running Win7 and shared graphics.

She didnt like being told a 'brand new' $300 laptop is crap and whoever specc'd it was a bonehead.

    Infinito3010:
As well, are your drivers up to date

Meter issues have nothing to do with drivers. Its all memory.

    Infinito3010:
There are utilities to provide information of hardware

    Yeah, Windows Control Panel.

    Infinito3010:
    http://driverscollection.com/

You cant do a link for us?

You are providing misinformation. Drivers have nothing to do with swing meter stutter.

You may be an expert in your own mind, but providing a web address for people who need to know their hardware series and model No. is not helpful since they can go to the manufaturers site with that info anyway and get NEWER drivers than your shopping trolley contains.

The meter issue will ALWAYS be an issue in WGT as long as WGT continue to use FLASH as their platform.

There are plenty of threads in WGT offering advice on how to help with the meter issue.

I personaly would not advocate any 3rd party software like 'game booster' to help.

    Knowledge is power.

90% of the time it is the END user that needs some tweaking and not WGT.

    People need to accept that.

But this thread has nothing to do with the Swing Meter though .. does it.

Try not to turn this thread into another "how to tweak your computer" dissertation Richard.

    Richard4168:
I took MisterWGT's response about the upcoming meter optimization solutions as being for the people who experience meter issues, and that it will not completely remedy a poor meter.

Anyone with experience and knowledge of computer programming will take MrWGT's statement:

"we are working on a few optimization solutions that will address some of the most common situations;  but it will not address all."

as they are changing their code to more efficiently work in our computers thus lowering the amount of CPU and/or memory resources required to run the game.

In essence, WGT is tweaking their software so we don't need to tweak our computers so much.  Those changes will come from WGT in a future release of their software so everyone will get the benefits.

    That's how I take it.

MrWGT?  Am I reading that right?

Unfortunately one of those optimization solutions just might me to remove all avatar movements. That might be one reason that they brought out Putter Pal.

Spelling mistake corrected, thanks for pointing that out.

Sir, you are wrong.  Your video drivers are just as important as it controls the information being displayed.  So, if your driver is outdated, it will not have the support for the new hardware supported by adobe flash.  Nvidia and ATI suppport adobe flash directly. Prior to hardware acceleration being utilized by adobe, it would not be utilized .  If you like I can dig out which driver version supports adobe flash and prior to that release there was no hardware support.

As for the control panel providing you detailed information about your computer, does it give your motherboard make and model?

My apologies, but sometimes giving information, since I am computer illiterate, may do more harm than good.  Hence, let the experts deal with, it.  Thats it for me.

Sometimes, people don't know what hardware is installed in their computer.  I know this first hand.

Just a foot note about video drivers and adobe flash.

Please check this site out about nvidia

At the same time when adobe flash announced hardware acceleration, Mircosoft released updated drivers for directx

one simple thing to do and a lot of people don't do it is close all other tabs and just have the gameclient open.

and uninstall any programs you no longer use or need, half the time you don't know whats running in the background and using up a chunk of the cpu

I concur. Most definately. you OP mentioned all drivers with a link for all drivers though and that was what i replied to.

Since flash uses available memory, your video card should be driven to its optimum.

Some have onboard video and regular windows updates will be fine.

The new i generation of CPU includes video now too!

    Infinito3010:
As for the control panel providing you detailed information about your computer, does it give your motherboard make and model?

No, A simple tool like 'speccy' will be enough for that. Most people dont need to know the available upgrade slots or how many PCI-e slots they have.

However to ascertain your CPU and Memory the CP is enough.

WIN7 uses 2gb just to run with Aero enabled etc. If your Win7 pc has 2gb, you are going to have meter issues. If you have AntiVirus running and maybe MSN or Skype or some other thing going , you should be ramped up to 4Gb of memory, which in this day, should be the NORM.

This is also true. However apart from analysis programs and all the tech 'know how' basics of running your copy of Windows is simply taken fro granted for mist people.

Then, they get into a situation like WGT which demands no crap is running and you should have ample memory.

Suddenly we realise - perhaps this pc isn't all the sales guy said it was & maybe we should have spent that extra $200 on the other one.

Nice. But still superfluous for the needs of WGT'rs

This indicates a severe lack of memory.

I have FFox open as well as Chrome - Email, Skype, calculator.. and what not happening.

I dont turn off Loop. I do enable background loading.

    I have 8gb memory on and old C2D 8500 - I do however, have a GTX560TI video card.

Its not necessarily the programs you have installed. It is the program windows boots with - running in memory.

A simple check is to look at all the icons down there by the windows clock, how many of these do you NEED running everytime you start Windows?

Printer ink managers - msn - cam/ image managers - all kinds of things not needed to start with windows.

A fav program of mine is CCleaner - not only does it clean up old and unecessary files from your PC, it will maintain a sharp registry (be sure to back up) and it also includes a Startup Manager to see exactly what IS starting up with windows.

Read the entries in Start Up - you should be able to recognise what the entries are and disable the ones you dont need running. If you  are unsure - leave it alone or google search it.

    http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

(Piriform also do 'speccy', that i mentioned earlier)

    Ram/ memory...

...its all about the available memory.

Bill Gates can be quoted in saying, a computer needing more than 640k is not necessary.  That was back in the days of MSDos-5.1

I use Windows XP with 2 gig of ram.  Far cry from you 8 gig of ram which is wow,  (I want a new computer)!.

LOL, there is YouTube of that! i thought it was win95 era.

And that probably runs much smoother than those with Win 7 and 4gb ram  - XP was was good, major step from 98 - the dawn on Win7

Technology has dropped in price SO MUCH since just a year ago.

    Laptops for $299

    Desktops for $499

People head out looking  for a new pc , and ultimaely their high specc'd Win XP model is probably performing better than the budget ones available now.

    WGTpizza:

    Hey everyone!

Wow, what a great turn out. Let's start some conversations here. How did you like the format? Where can we improve?

The Chat in general was very good, quite informative and easy to follow, however there are a few things that could have be improved on...

    1. I noticed that a lot of players had  trouble getting in and staying in due to password user name issues, and if you weren't there a the very start there was no where to go to to find a solution. A how too posted to the original thread would have been very useful.
    2. As mentioned by Shrude, you had no idea if your questions where being seen, I submitted 2 questions to WGT staff in response to Mr WGT asking, "any more questions", neither made the chat page. Now I realise that not all questions could possible have been answered, and this is not where I feel the system failed. I would have been nice if the WGT staffers to whom we were directed to submit our questions too, could have sent a short acknowledgement that they had received the question.

Despite this it was well worthwhile, well done, lets do it again.
