I read the rules about "closest to the hole" competitions... It says that only members from US, Canada, Norway etc. can win prices in the different challenges. I'm from Sweden. Right now I have the 1:st place in April pinehurst sweeps (I think it's called), If I win the challenge do I earn 500 credits or not? I will ,of course, nor trade it for IRL money but I have to buy new clubs in the future...

    How does it work???

    Hi Jajja,

Many CTTH competitions are sweepstakes where the winner is selected by a random drawing from all those who entered.  Where sweepstakes are concerned, your score doesn't actually matter.  You only need to complete the CTTH to be eligible.

However, with that said it's important to remember that there are different laws in each country that govern skill-based competitions (like the top score CTTH or stroke tourneys) and sweepstakes-based competitions (random drawings).  Sweepstakes laws in some countries will  differ from skill-gaming laws and thus certain countries are not eligible to win prizes.  Players from those countries may still participate, but in order to remain compliant with the appropriate laws we cannot offer prizes to them.

Thanks for the answer, but I have one question anyway. Can I earn credits in some way here at WGT or do I have to purchase? My personal opinion is that's quite unfair that all members doesn't have the some posibilities. When it comes to different laws in different countries, I  think that Sweden has the same "rules" as Norway...

There are a couple of ways to earn credits right now.  This blog post covers all of the various options.  It is unfortunate that some countries (and US states) have local sweepstakes and skill-gaming restrictions to deal with, but we would get ourselves into some serious hot water (and could even be forced to close) if we did not abide by them.

I understand that you have to folIow the jurisdiction of each country that participate in the WGT network, anything else would be insane, of course. But is there any problems with winning credits (not IRL money) that only can be used in here? I think that there are many members who just want to upgrade the equipment for fun and not make a living out of this...

A couple of months ago I tried out a different online golfgame called onGOLF, that I think was a swedish platform. In this gáme you could also win money with several payouts (I won some money myself) and this was also a skill-gaming. So as I said earlier in the thread I don't think skill-gaming with money is any kind of problem in Sweden. Did you get any other facts in the research before you introduced the game on the web? If Norway can take part in the whole WGT concept with earring credits, so can Sweden. Maybe you can check it out?

    Jajja,

We run various forms or sweepstakes, contests, promotions and skill game challenges.  Each one has its own local regulation based on where you live.  We do our best to research the regulations of and clear as may states and countries as possible to enable the maximum number of people who can participate.  Unfortunately some local regulation prohibit or are too onerous for us to offer the event.  Our apologies for any frustration this may cause.

    Hi Willy & Hussain,

Some tournaments you can enter and win, some you cannot.  You'll need to check the eligibility requirements for each individual tournament.

For example, this tournament is eligible to be entered by anyone in the world.  If you click on that link you'll see "Open to all countries" in the descriptions above and below the tournament dates and times box.  If there are any restrictions on what countries can win prizes, they will be listed there.

I am not understanding some things about winning credits and the "skill game" aspect of wgt. I understand there are laws against winning money via skill gaming online and such..so i pose the question can you cash out the credits that you win through the tournaments entered on wgt? because while i see a deposit method i do not see a cashout option.  If in fact there is no cashout option available, then can you really consider wgt as a type of "gaming" or to be more specific "gambling" site?
