I see in som players profiles that their career earnings are sometimes in the thousands.  That's not real money, is it?

    hi

it's a value of prizes, with some being worth $5000. also winnings in monthly or weeklys or ready go's or random drawings.

Not Real money. You win credits which you can exchange for items in the pro shop and Elite Collection, which you can check out for yourself.  They used to have gift cards you could exchange the credits for but did away with them.

The cash figure shown is just a poor calculation of a guess at the amount you might have won if the game was played for money. Approximately.

    LOL!

It's not a guess IMHO but the strict reverse calculation of the $$ => credits rate. From the FAQ:

What is the dollars to credits conversion rate?

When using a credit card or Paypal, $1 = 100 credits.

    Add this from the T&C:
WGT Credits do not have monetary value and are not redeemable for money at any time.
and you see that it's incorrect to convert credits to $$, yet it's done. All those $$ in the prizes and career earnings are indications deceiving the customers to errantly believe that there is a $$ value.

So the dollar sign could be replaced by a gold coin with the letter "C" to make it more realistic in terms of winnings.

Kind of like Microsoft points system. The only difference between the two is:

    WGT uses the $ sign

Xbox  uses their trademark MP sign

(Credits do not have monetary value and are not redeemable for money at any time)
