    Buggyyy:
    Allow Legends to have any equipment they wish. They've earned it. I want the R11 irons and the R11S driver.

    I agree...I'd have no issue playing a level 75 (or what ever) Legend with the best gear.

    This is my point exactly. Would you rather play a level 75 Pro with the best equipment or a level 75 with the best equipment?

    I've posted this suggestion elsewhere but I think it bears repeating here. A combination level/tier requirement on equipment for all levels works (I"ve seen it at another site).

    For example, lets's just take the Pro, Master and Legend tiers. A total of 9 sets of clubs are available, ranging from set 1 (the weakest) to set 9 (the best). Availability of the clubs would be as follows:

    lvl 30/pro- set 1      lvl 30/master - set 4     lvl 30/legend - set 7

    lvl 60/pro - set 2     lvl 60/master - set 5     lvl 60/legend - set 8

    lvl 90/pro - set 3     lvl 90/master - set 6     lvl 90/legend - set 9

    The requirement would be that you must meet or exceed BOTH level and tier to buy the equipment.

    By doing this the recreational player not interested in "tiering up" has an incentive to play in order to level up to get better equipment for his/her tier. The competitive player has an incentive to "tier up" to get access to the best and longest equipment.

    As new gear becomes available it's just plugged in to wherever it fits in relationship to what's out there.

    I'll toss my hat in the ring in support of this. I'll also add a suggestion as to where to start:

    Hack - The only aftermarket item available to them should be balls and  all level-locked putters. Don't let hacks have better sticks...period. Demonstrate some affinity for the game and be rewarded as you advance (at the risk of sounding redundant).

    Pro - Everything a Hack can have, plus ONE modestly improved driver (in the 240 yd range), and all level-locked wedges

    Tour Pro - Everything a Pro can have, plus, one additional choice in Driver (in the 250 yd range),  (yes, 2 total), and ONE modestly better set of irons.

    Master - Everything a Tour Pro can have plus, Two more drivers to choose from, but nothing over 270 distance (these tees are where the added distance starts to seem necessary) and all level-locked irons EXCLUDING the Burner 2.0's and R11's.

    Tour Master - Everything a Master can have plus, ONE 275 yd driver and the Burner 2.0 irons.

    Legend - Everything a Tour Master can have plus, all equipment unlocked sans subsequent releases of potentially better, level-locked gear.

    Obviously the level-locks will need to be re-evaluated too as they could be a bit lower than they are now given the proposed tier-locks.

    I don't remember the level I made legend (somewhere in the late 70's), but the best you could get then was the lvl 80 R9 driver (that I didn't qualify for) and the G10 irons. This is not the same game it was back then with some of the hot gear out there now. It is rife with parity. Attempts to bring about parity has watered down many other sports and will do the same here if it continues...IMO.

    Maybe even something like this:

    Percent of club distance

    Legends = 100%
    Tour Master = 96%
    Master = 92%
    Tour Pro = 88%
    Pro = 84%
    Amateur = 80%
    Hack = 76%

    Not sure about this , but I always felt that buying clubs available to a high level player , but who is at a low tier Pro or Tour Pro, would affect their performance, the clubs performance that is. A bit like what Tresclub has posted above.

    Now I don't think it is the case , but anyway it motivated me to stick with my starter irons all the way to master, and level 79, when I bought the burners. Oh Joy, What bliss it was to hit those irons after months of slogging through the levels, hardly able to compete with others.

    The only new equipment I want to see now is a high level R11s 3wd.

    You can't alter the clubs for certain players. They would have to do it for everyone regardless of tier.
