I'll be giving that technique a trial, bd.

Meanwhile, I've had good success recently using the reverse green camera to set up aim. You need to have the aerial cameras option turned on in game settings, to be able to select the different views. At 150 yds I'd give 5mph x-wind a flagstick length, 10mph, 2 flagsticks from hole, etc.

Scale the offset up or down for actual distance of approach. For a 200 yd approach in 20mph I might aim wide about half the width of the green (most courses - SA is special case, lol).

I'll be giving your method a try as well gr8. I'm always looking for a better way, Thanks!

You guys and your formulas are really killing me.  Not everything is mathematical.  It's a game.  Play it......play it again......and play it again.  If your shot was hit pretty well, and the wind didn't move it like you thought it would.....adjust next time.  Sheesh.  There is no perfect answer for "I have a 18mph wind, a 6i, a Nike ball, R11 irons, I'm in the 15/20 rough, bla bla bla, do I give it 8ft of wind or 10ft of wind?"  That borders on insanity.

As for the extra stroke for nothing, it's golf.  That 2in putt costs the same as the 350yd drive.  It drives us all batty, but it's the beauty of the game.

It's difficult to tell if a cross wind is 90° to the direction of the ball flight, or if it's somewhat more or less.

As Chop so insultingly put it, being exactly correct is not the target - there's potential variables everywhere - wind changes (it's rarely absolutely steady, the likelihood of hitting the ding (and on which side), slope of landing terrain, WGT programmed deviation, ad nauseum...

Make your best guess, given the shot time allotted, and take the stroke. If you get surprised by the result, take a mental note, and play on. It is a game after all - not a matter of life or death.

We all learn off each other with different ideas. This is great because Heavy cross winds can be the death of me....lol

I don't use any charts or anything like that. As Luke was told, I use the Force...lol.

20mph wind left to right or visa versa.  150yrds from the pin. Ok you get the Aim... but how hard would you hit the Ball or which club.?

Off the Tee i figure cross winds can act like tailwinds sometimes, on the fairway it might be different.

Holy moly, geesh, so far and what not and such. I just yell roll or stop. Doesn't work for me, but it's interesting.

No, it's a COMPUTER game, so it IS mathematical. I'm not saying that's the most fun way to play it, or that anybody should play that way, but trust me -- the guys that have averages in the 50s and thousands of dollars in winnings aren't just guessing and banging it around and hoping for the best. It's not golf; like it or not, it's a program and it's based on numbers.
