It was 45-50% on the pitch shot and the flop i tried that went no where. I thought using the spin was maybe the cause.

The only time I usually pitch or chip is when I'm on clean lies. I use the full shot on 20+ yard shots. Those really short sided one's are where my confidence suffers.

On long deep rough shots I always use the punch with success.

I agree, I would punch a shot like that with the 64 wedge. In that 50% rough I punch it almost double with back-spin. If you ding a punch in heavy rough, you have the best chance to advance the ball IMHO.

Not so fast wise wedge master;)

That's a great shot to flop to---10/12 yards, depending on slope from the 40/50.

    You're right. I used to flop.  :-)

Using the Cle 64 Wedge and Nike Balls

Flop...Full B/Spin...  Depending on wind and roll of green... hit just short of full.

I presume when your using the Flop shot... your clicking the Line before the ding and not dinging the shot.

Just saying that people use different ways to play a Flop Shot.

That's what I did. I hit the 64 pitch shot with 3/4 spin at about 75% power. I hit close to the dinger and it went about 4 yards.

That's why I posted this thread because I was thoroughly perplexed about what happened.

I usually hit 64 wedge full shots when I'm around 20-30 yards and have had really good success. With it being 10 yards I thought the pitch would have worked.

You didn't say in the first post that it was 10 yards, which means it would have had to carry about 7, uphill .... no wonder it went only 4 yards, into the bank. I probably would've flopped with a 60 degree, choked up a bit.

I usually hit the line left of the ding, but in the rough I aim left and ding it.

And that full pitch with backspin gets up there. Hearing this makes me think the swing wasn't strong enough, something I've done myself in learning the shot.

    Because YJ speed reads;)

Ya, you needed full power to clear it, to make the green.

    i have a diff wedge ...

but for what u describe its a FLOP for me..

assuming it was level around hole.. .. i take off two yards for roll... but add 8 yards for 40/50

thus 16 yards power is what i will need.. my64 max power is 15 yards... so i dont quite use full bottom...

i use the stop erly on the meter style.. and usally scare the hole,,, make a few..or most always leve a EZ tap in..

hope that helps... even for longer flops with my 60.. like yers... i add 8 yards outa 40/50... just have to pay atten if where it lands is up or dwn hill..  and adjust ..

    peace

3/4 full back 64w out of 40-50 goes 8+ yds. Having to carry to 10 yds is a bit of a different scenario. Nothing to read fast there.  :-P
