YankeeJim:I've never had this happen to me
I have had this happen numerous times YJ, and in fact I can remember countless times making the exact same comments in game chat. It seems to be programatically related to the wind, as it always misses on the downwide side of the aiming marker.
Just a guess, but I am thinking that the fact that the avatar does not move left or right when aligning the shot, has lulled wgt into putting more onus for launch direction on the swing meter than the actual aiming marker. It is at least a shared responsibility, but I feel the swing meter affects launch direction much more than it should. The wind should affect the ball in flight, and this should be relational to the wind speed and actual direction, but a wind moving hard right to left should NOT affect the launch angle, only the ball flight.
I have seen this behavior too when dinging a shot with a string cross wind as well as when hitting the meter to oppose the wind. Also seems to be more prevalent off the tees on par 3's. I still see it from the fairway, but not nearly as much, or as drastic.
