Glad to see the tour continuing but it would good to hear why it's down to a 36 hole format rather than the 54 holes we've seen in the last two events.

As always, I'm sure there's going to be plenty of complaints about having to grind out a score in R1 as it becomes even more essential when you've only got 18 holes to recover from.

Would love to see a traditional 72 hole format with the cut made after R2 so that it better mirrors a RL championship....

Agreed. Would also like to see each round as single play. You hit your first drive, you're stuck with it, even if you don't go -4 on the first three holes. Bethpage isn't a new course, we're all familiar with it. Even if the same players still win, it will eliminate (at least some of) the crazy low scores. Might make it feel just a touch more realistic. But, that brings us back to the 'random' winds in single play argument...

For that, the cut lines must be made working first - they did not in the recent Championships at STA and KYA.

Other than that, a cut line is pretty useless here - which purpose should it have?

why wasn't it working?  Not as up to date as I used to be.....

    Cheers,

    Why? Dunno!

Fact is, the "50 %" cut lines were between 79 and 82 for those Championships but players with much higher first round scores (100+) continued in the second rounds of both.

I'm not advocating getting rid of the unlimited rounds for these events (although I personally detest them) as we know they are a major cash-cow for WGT and without the sales of balls + advertising revenue, there's not going to be much of a game left (you definitely wouldn't see two new courses per year otherwise).

I just personally thought WGT had hit a happy medium which most people were okay with; 18 hole grinder and then two single play rounds of 18 seemed to be pretty fair for all players who wanted to compete. Just would be good to get some feedback from WGT's end as to why the change has been made for this specific event.

Those who have the time to grind & grind all day long (will probably see the top 10 at least with these scores = 52 or a 53) compared to ones who dont grind, who are not unemployed, have a family and play it maybe 3 or 4 times and get a 57, those who grind will all ready  have the gift cards in their pocket because 3 or 4 strokes is virtually impossible to make up on bethpage especially in 1 round.  Fair enough if WGT need the revenue then give us an extra 2 or 3 rounds to make up the deficeit on the "grinders" because one single play round afterwards is probably useless, might as well call it 1 round of grind takes the prizes.

The last SINGLE PLAY championship i even managed a gift card because i was on a even footing with all the grinders, not that i grudge them winning, if you have the time to do it and nothing better to do, then its $100 for you.  All i'm saying that single play is much more of a "tense" tournament, fun and realistic.

You ever think that perhaps ppl on top have lives as well and are just better than you at WGT?

No matter what they do you would find a way to b*tch about it.
