Would have to agree with those who dont like the unlimited first round action.

It would be so much bttr and realistic to do the standard 2 round single play and then have a cut line, 2 rounds after that to sort out the winners

Having unlimited first round is like chris says, folk restarting all the time and no real sense of a shot having true meaning, still cool that the tourneys are improving but surely and eventually WGT is gonna have to give this game some true scale and give us a TOUR style game focus.

I know CC clubs replicate this style and gives the plyrs what they want but WGT cant stand still and rely on there superb gameplay and graphics for ever.

    regards

And when they changed the format last time after the ones who never had a chance complained what happened? I'll tell you the same names were right at the top. It doesnt matter what the wind is or how many time you can play it those top players will be in the top 10 at all times is it that hard to notice?

I agree with the sentiments of most of the other posters re unlimited play, I much prefer the single play formats for the bigger tournaments. That said I don't believe it will take the top guys a lot of grinding round Beth to post a low number. I've just had my first attempt at it and it's playing very easy.

Playing easy, I just knocked out a 55 messing around.  That's with hitting the pin for eagle and stopping .6 from the hole to end up with a birdie, missing a 8 foot eagle putt, and a couple other easy putts for bird.  Although, BP is the easiest course for Legends so I expect to see the low 50's maybe a 49 tossed in.

    Wailua51:

What I would like to know is, how is it even possible to shoot a 20+ under in one round? I looked at the Bethpage tourney leaderboard and the guy shot a 50. How? is there some kind of cheat going on? Cause it sure seems like it and if there is then obviously the guys who aren't cheating have no chance.

Check the profile...parred 17 and holed out on 18!  Heck of a round!

Are the greens playing as regular tournament or legend tournament?

    Regular tournament greens Buggyyy.

Well I too would rather see single play rounds for the major events. I wasn't able to play in the Kiawah Championships, but if WGT really do rake it in with these Unlimited Play tournaments then that 54 hole Tournament format seems like an OK compromise to me.

I'm not a grinder for these kind of events (maybe more to qualify for an Open if needed, but not when Gift Cards are up for grabs), I played once and then again with no restarts. Maybe I just got lucky at the right time, but as Tiffer said, the course is set up easy. Loads of the top guys will be shooting low 50s first or second attempt. Of course it suits the 'grinders' but it won't be necessary in many cases.

@Wailua51: No cheating involved I can assure you. The course is set up easy for guys used to playing off longer tees. With the top equipment most of the Par 4s are short iron shots / wedges, meaning lots of short putts on greens where the better players know where to leave the easiest putts. There are a few key holes that are still tricky like the 7th and 15th and a tailwind on the 13th really helps to be able to reach that in 2. I was lucky that I made a couple of long putts on the 7th and 13th and very fortunate to hole out for Eagle on the 18th. Check out some youtube videos by the likes of Bollox, Genorb, Priestess, SunCity and you'll see how players can shoot very low scores.

With Penners knocking in a 50 early doors, it's setup a perfect scenario for WGT with this tournament. Those who want to be competitive for the top 10 won't want to be more than a few shots off the lead going into R2 as there's only 18 holes to recover the difference.

Whilst the course is playing easy, you have little to no margin for error on any holes with such a good score having been posted and that's where the grinding will come from; restarting after 7 - 10 holes when you've made one too many mistakes.

In all honesty, I have no issues with this setup. I just preferred the 54 hole format over the 36 as it promoted less of a need to grind to still be competitive. A four shot difference over the top players at BPB is just about recoverable but only if you shoot the lights out on a single play round and they all have bad days --- in other words, not very likely.

Anyway, well played Paul (super round) and best of luck to everyone else with this tournament.

I can only say 1 thing: It's ridiculous of wgt to even make it possible for a player to score 50! If wgt is to be taken seriously, they have to find a way to make this game more realistic. I am tempted to think that this guy probably has spent "a million" credits=a lot of dollars on wgt and this is how wgt rewards him.....

Maybe this guy even works in wgt????

Well, as for me I was -5 after 6 holes - the same after 18, so something is basicly wrong with this game, yes... Suddenly it felt like the greens were "standard/very fast/championship/tourney every other hole. So scoring birdies was impossible..

    Or there is another possibility.
