Just got done playing front 9 at St A's twice with the Lie activated. First impression is that it still needs some tweaking. Found the lie affect to be unrealistic. With a dot speed of about 10 secs front to rear (which should be damn close to flat) It was ending up 7 to 8 yards short. With side lie of 8 sec it was about the same 7 to eight yards off. The most dot speed I ran into was 4 sec and that threw it off almost 19 yards. Way to much influence of the lie based on the read of the dots.

There should be a number for the degree amount...it is very difficult to judge the slope.

Also, games will take even longer...

    LOLserver:
After several bunker visits you will find out how to aim & how much power to hit.

IRL, if I try to get out of a bunker with my 60 degree wedge I have a hard time BUT if I use my 55 degree wedge it's a no brainer, easy out. Try that here-use the sand wedge instead of automatically going to the 60.

Has anyone managed to over-hit a shot with uneven lie yet? The trend seems to be the other way...

Uneven Lies is the most significant and exciting addition to World Golf Tour in recent history, making the game even more realistic and challenging.

You can now choose to play with realistic uphill, downhill and sidehill lies. This new "Uneven Lies" feature is currently only available in Practice stroke play games, so there's no impact on Average Scores and we can get feedback from players on the impact of the new feature.

If you select the new "Uneven Lies" option in a practice game, you will see a new grid when you're not on the tee or putting green, that visually shows the slope of your lie...

    • Uphill Lies - your shots will go higher and shorter
    • Downhill Lies - your shots will go lower and shorter
    • Sidehill Lies - your shots will go left when the ball is above your feet and right when the ball is below your feet

Note: if you select the current "Even Lies" option in any game, you'll continue to have the same experience with relatively flat lies on fairway, rough, sand or other surfaces.

Uneven Lies makes your experience more realistic, but also harder, as like in real-life players will want to favor flatter landing areas of the course, or they will face more challenging shots from uneven lies.

We'll be monitoring WGT Forums closely for feedback on this new feature, so let us know what you think!

just came off Kiawah front from TM tees with uneven lies enabled .. usually an easy 9 to say the least ..

     L M F A O !!!

managed to shoot 34 including 2 bogeys .. the kinda game where i usually would card sub-30 .. the lie effect is exagerated far beyond what can be deemed realistic .. especially a downhill & sideways lie .. NOT where u wanna be ..

i would really enjoy this feature if toned down, & i mean WAY down, to realistic levels .. marginal sloped lies hardly affect your shot IRL .. since i play myself ..

throw in shot shaping & u got yerself a winner .. but this feature needs loads of thoughtful consideration & much tuning before being rolled out to ranked ..

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Driving like this about equals how realistic uneven lies are right now ...

    GottaBeJoking:

Aimed a little left for the Flop

Without even looking at the replay I can tell you a flop is the wrong shot to use here and aiming left compounds the error. That lie is going to shoot the ball left without any correction and you aim it more that way. A flop is not practical because of the way you would have to contort the club face to lie flat on an uphill lie that severe.

Sure enough, the replay shows the ball going left, exactly as you would expect for that lie. Because there's no club face adjustment you have to know that the ball is going left and aim it right. I would have pitched that shot to the right (with the aim) and it would have gone straight. The question of how far to aim is up in the air and probably a little skewed at the moment until it gets fine tuned by WGT.

I wasn't using the flop as the 'right' shot, just to test what would happen with that exaggerated lie.

With the flop & no sloping lie, as you know you need to aim a little left bcos the ball flies a little right (or miss the ding early).  Which does represent IRL where it flies a little right from an open clubface.  So I set the shot up aimed as if there was no sloping lie enabled, which as you can see in the screen shot is only a couple of feet or so left of the flag.  The idea was to see HOW MUCH left it flew as a result of the lie.

Of course it was going left with that lie.  But there's about 10 yds of green to the left of the pin, & I would have expected it to at least land on the green if it was going to represent anything like IRL.  The skew left was WAY TOO MUCH.

And IRL, by opening the clubface & gripping down, you can eliminate most of the skew left by levelling out the leading edge at impact.  Yes you would need to adjust the aim to the right a little as well, but not by much.

It's really just a test example to show that the effect is far too much at this stage, which if you read the rest of this thread, is being reported by many.  I think the idea is a good one & developed properly will add to the game, although I also agree with others that shot shaping should be tackled first.

Hope this clarifies some of your points, as I think you have misunderstood the point of my original post.

No, I got it and liked your answer to mine. This is the part of the game that is going to really separate the golfers from the gamers when WGT gets it right. Your thinking is going to pay big dividends then.  ;-)

I think the fairway lies need to be toned down..after a practice round at RSG and KI...just not realistic...way too much change in shot...might be correct at RSG...but not KI, IMO.

Also, pitch and chip chops need way too much adjustments...it's a lottery for sure.

No way can being on the fringe affect a 17 yard pitch by 8 yards.

It's fun and challenging for sure, but I think it's really needs to be toned down, then ramp it up a bit to find a happy medium.

The uneven lie feature needs to not just be "tweaked"

    It needs to be OVERHAULED

With fairway approach shots..The distance punishment for up or down slopes is way out of proportion to the slopes represented...and the left to right is the same

With shots around the green and in bunkers...the problem is even worse. I have some shots that are just totally unplayable

I just had a 25 yrd bunker shot on the 2nd at Kiawah out of 30-40 %

it was showing a slope that was uphill (real life about 15 degs) and a little left to right

I hit a full 64 deg (60 yrds) Cleveland with 5/6 power and dinged it......it went

    5 YARDS!!!!!!

Come on WGT that is NOT realistic that is FANTASY LAND!!

    another example

I had a 120 yard shot at the 1st at Bethpage

Horizontally flat lie with ball JUST below feet (dots hardly moving) ...4 mph left to right wind

I allowed 6 yrds left aim and hit a 120 yrd r11 wedge FULL power and with half TOP and dinged it....... It finished 6 yrds right and only went 112 yrds

I understand that there are going to be teething problems but fair dinkum did any of the staff there at WGT actually play a game of uneven lies BEFORE its launch?

    It sure doesnt seem so.......
