1st 9 at St A. Black tees, Tourny greens. 3 under - and that was on the last 4 holes where I thought 'wtf, I'll just hit it 20 yds further than I would have thought'.

NOTHING like real golf (not that wgt is anyway - it's a click and play virtual computer game, despite what the crazies say).

Distances are miles out WGT. Agree with previous post, feels at least 75% out - and more like 95% out on the practically flat lies which have no real impact on real golf.

The top boys will master this (because they have the time / inclination) and still rip your courses apart. Now, in real life pro tourny's, do you honestly see the top 50 all shooting sub 60 rounds? Hardly! WGT is just a game.

I'll still hack around but part of fun will have gone out if it's brought in across all games - but you pays your money and takes your chance I suppose.

I agree with you hyena64. Draw/Fade should come before uneven lies feature.

    imperialrock:

Just seems to me that if the new standard for 18-hole greatness in this game becomes 65-68 instead of 55-57, that benefits everyone in the long run.

Basically the point I was making about scoring. Once they account for the new features, the same best players will still lead the show, which is entirely appropriate. The point is realism.

But what I see so far from this feature, the effect is exaggerated 10-fold or something along those lines. Way off!

    Hi

played my first round on oak b9 - score was ok with 3 birds and 2 bogeys - after reading the posts here i was ok with the sidehill lies.
Up- and downhill lies are a bit extreme tho.

I am sure good players will figure this out pretty fast. The other will have to change their game plan - hitting the green will be the highest priority. Course management will be more of a factor - lately with the new equipment nobody had to care about that really.

Considering it just came out and is still in the trial and feedback phase - very well done WGT. If you want feedback on particular shots you might want to set up a feedback box that players can activate after the shot with a right click option.

    Cheers

LOL... tried front 9, insane! Saving back 9 for tonight and a beer or 3! Happy Friday. :)

Had an amazing 90 degree off bunker shot at Oak which made me chuckle.

    Olympic LMFAO

Quit front 9 of Oakmont after one hole

Had 134 yrds from left side of the fairway....ball above the feet approx 20 deg slope

and approx 20 Degs downslope....Wind was left to right at 6mph (neutral help or hurt)

Given my previous experience I allowed much more for the R-L slope effect... so I aimed just over 4 flagstick lengths to the RIGHT even with the 6 mph L-R... hit a FULL power 135 yrd  R11 9iron with neutral spin .........I dinged it

It carried 110 yrds and went into the left rough WTF????

IRL ... The I would actually know that the club I hit would be DELOFTED by the downslope .... Now I would have to swing the club easier to make sure that I stayed in balance admittedly....but even so I would expect only make a distance allowance of MAXIMUM 4-6 yrds less distance compared to a flat stance

Also, even allowing for me not having the ability online to control the left hook spin thru impact with my hands I would expect the 6 mph Left - Right wind to hold it up a little so I would aim about 5- 6 yrds  right of my intended landing area

I would also mention the Change in elevation to the green... But that factor stays the same with a flat stance or a sloping one

So That is REAL LIFE ...If WGT tweak it to reflect those physics they would be close to being on the money

Currently it is a BLOODY LOTTERY

Tried Best of front 9 and .... playing CCC par 5 9 wind right left, I was in fairway, adjusted aim and ball ... went in the water after a ding shot ! It was a deviation at least of 9 yds LOL ...

I like very much the idea of new challenge of all it's almost close to real golf, but as most of you said, this effect seems to be too much aggressive ....

well WGT, people DID ask for this ..

but clearly a lot of fine tuning is needed here .. i would go as far as to say that the effect should be reduced by up to 60% to bring it closer to what happens IRL ..

it would also be prudent to intro a genuine draw/fade feature before the the lie feature is finally rolled out into ranked games, AFTER reducing the current lie effect behaviour ..

    +1
