I think mine and Teewade's stats might be mixed up on the Round 1 leaderboard.

    Hi MrAxelrod,

I think they're right here: official 1st round leaderboard

... and that matches the pic that was submitted

    I am here waiting Corwyn.

From the practice I have done so far, I see holes #1, #2, #9 and #12 as problem holes, . I'll take bogey there quite happily.

Ooops, I am early, misunderstood GMT 0600, will c ya later

So, oneeyedjohn and I just played our Oakmont rounds. Boy, is this a tough course... it's super easy for a round to go off the rails if you get into trouble. We both had a rough patch in the middle that really damaged our scores. Poor John couldn't sink a putt: everything was just curling around the cup.

LOL moment: 9th green, John goes a touch long on his wedge approach 3rd shot, leaving a 9ft downhiller... and says "It's 9 for 9 down. What should I do" Me: "Blow it in." He hit it 2.5ft power but it went 7ft past, of course. But he made the putt!

I had a lot of fun playing with you, John, despite the extreme difficulty!

Here are my pics and all the stats:

I took some vacation with the wife and now I'm back and ready to get into playing Oakmont.  I tried a practice round and noticed it's rather brutal. The low wind is almost a zero factor. The green slopes and very fast green speed are everything. It's funny how large the greens at RSG seem now. These old greens on Oakmont are really small in comparison and the level of precision and feel needed to keep the ball in birdie postion is amazingly hard.

Great luck to everyone in Round 2. It's going to take all the luck and skill we have to score well on this one.

    Hey everybody!

I just realized that today is basically the last day that I will be available this week due to work and family. As I don't know whether Cornerpocket will be available, I want to ask if  there is anyone of you who wants to play round2 with me in about 1-3 hours (1-4pm PST start)?

    Cheers, Hans

All fine, Cornerpocket and I just figured out a possiblity to play today =) I am still not quite sure about the right game approach at Oakmont. It seems like every try to enforce a birdie costs strokes in the long run. Not that easy to hit the green at all though sometimes. Played a 5 birdie-3bogey-1doublebogey 70, my playing partner CornerPocket realized the uneven lie grid after 30 played holes in this tournament and might come back to beat us all now! Was fun =)
