I am in 100% agreement that access to improved equipment needs to be based on participation.  I don't believe, however, that XP should be the only criterion.  Accessibility should also be based on level of achievement (tier).

A feller who joins today and makes Legend tomorrow (helluva lot of games ;-)) should have access to the best clubs.  I would posit that he has more right to the clubs than a level 99 Hack who has been playing since Noah docked the ark.

Strictly personal opinion, but seems eminently logical to me.  Level x-ety-x OR tier so-and-so, whichever comes first.

You may know that the clubs have been tier orientated in the olde times. WGT changed it for whatever reason, and I assume that they will be reluctant to reverse this decision.

As I said in discussion with Andy: Why should they lose the revenue of your struggles to get to the coveted equipment?

I think most people would agree with you - I certainly do.  I remember my old Tour Pro days when there were guys at Lvl90+ (to my mere 50) and they had a huge yardage advantage over me.  Made it real tricky to compete in RG's and Tier-based tourneys.

lol, here we go again Alo....BECAUSE to get to Legend most've aready spent 100's $$ enroute (balls, equipe, RGs,funding CC comps... etc etc) so as a reward for this achievement and past and presumably future dedication to the WGT site /brand, not to mention in the interests of fairplay / and having a level playing field within same tier, this issue needs resolving....(fast)  imo.... Pfueti (Bavarian) ....Andy

That's your definition of "we deserve it".

    Apparently WGT defines differently.

I wish you all the best with your wish - good luck!

Correct.  But, why not open it up to tiers (if achieved before said level) to capture the revenue today of the coveted equipment?

You really think that a L88 brand new Legend isn't pining like hell for the R11s?  He'd raid his daddy's sock drawer for $30 to get them that very afternoon he was promoted...in most cases.  Addicts are addicts.  Get their money now instead of next month when they may find Halo, etc.

The counter argument to my proposal makes zero sense.  That argument is that WGT will profit more by ball sales when they require me to play longer to qualify for improved clubs.  (It has to be ball sales, because I can't buy other equipment.)

Give me a break.  If I'm suddenly allowed to buy better clubs for upwards of twenty bucks, does anyone really think I'm going to stop playing and buying balls?

I do realize that half the people in the world are dumber than average.  It's a given.  If people get dumber, they lower the average.  If people get smarter, they raise the average.

It's just that I often get tired of non-thinking, irrational people popping up and offering opinions which have no real basis other than the right to propound them.

    Sheesh.

If someone wants to offer a REAL reason why offering clubs based on tier, as well as level, is a bad idea, whether it deals with profitability or with marketability, then I would be listening closely and with true interest.

Why do you bother to answer to a tiring argument? Why do you fatigue us with personal attacks? You only show how wobbly your position is ;)

It's not only the balls but also any intermediate club set which players will frequently buy. The average player might buy four sets on his way, perhaps G10 (lvl 18), G20 (lvl 59), G20 (lvl 83), and R11 at last. Any shortcut will cost WGT 20-30 bucks.

The fact that someone refrains from buying any of the intermediates doesn't prove the argument wrong - it's just personal preference.

Alas, I agree that balls are the real income, and a recent post shows an excellent example for good revenue of the reservation. This guy plays 10 hours and more per day to get to the level for the highly desired R11s - must showel waggonloads of credits towards WGT, regardless if he or others (in matches, RGs and the like) pay for it.

I'm sure that the average player will play less once he has achieved the coveted goal. What else is there to gain? (yes, I know of the money list etc.)

Who said that here ? . Alo, as you have stated, You can buy R11 irons but you Won't, You Won't be buying R11s driver , so I fail to see why you are so vociferous about a subject which doesn't and won't affect you EVER...Andy

    Another thread about this? :p

Can't see WGT losing too much money as there only is one iron set between L80 and L90.
