I think that the solution is have more of the free rental weekends.  That gets a lot of players excited about clubs and increases buying.

In terms of ownership, that is a debate.  Can you really own virtual avatars, equipment, etc.  Well since some or all of the purchase could have been made with real money rather than virtual money, I contend that you can and do own it.  The rules are for WGT to make, in terms of trade in, gifting, etc. but I believe we own everything in our account.

I would suggest that the club 'trade in' is a little too low.  Should be about 50% of the current cost of the clubs, as you would expect in a golf shop.  Since they don't degrade over time, it makes no sense to assign them a used value.  I would say that it should be 50% of what the club sells for now not what it was bought for.

Maybe increasing the rental period up to 2 days to give players a better chance to try the club out would solve a lot of problems.

they are after all.......just pixels on a screen.....cost nothing... no manufacturing cost whatsoever apart from a graphic designers initial design which will be pennies in the pound ....but we get 25% of their value back after one day's use.

it's not that i'm short of money....far from it....it's the principle of the matter.

That's a good point, this has been requested for some time now. I'll see what I can do about making this happen :)

    What do you mean?

Good question! lol... I don't know the legal nuances of selling virtual items, so I wouldn't be able to speak any further on the matter. That was just an educated guess, I like the idea though.

might come across legal issues, seeing as our players do not "own" the items they are selling

What do you mean? Players do not "own" the items. When i bought my clubs in the pro shop i had to click on the "purchase" button. If i've purchased something then i "own" it.

    Let me enlighten you Dazza....

    http://gnovisjournal.org/2012/04/26/licensing-of-virtual-goods-misconceptions-of-ownership/

With only a few exceptions, players have no legitimate ownership rights to artifacts that they perceive as their property in virtual worlds and, more importantly, often unwittingly waive copyright to works they might create in the course of their interactions in the world.

Basically in other words.....all the things you purchase don't actually belong to you....they belong to WGT   :)

That goes for most games. It's a grey area indeed and an area where the end user is highly unlikely to come out on top.

Anyway....I'm happily switched back to my trusted Rossa.

You'd think so but they can't do, otherwise WGT would have them more often ?

Though reading between the lines, I'd bet on one before the New Year...Andy

lol.....charge them a virtual storage fee Andy :)

the $3 driver days are long gone okay........so maybe whilst wgt hike up their prices....maybe they should look at increasing the sell back rate too instead of hammering folk to taking a 75% loss after just one day.

it's surely not too much to ask...either way wgt will get the credits back from us via ball purchases soon enough etc
