Fwiw, I have a friend in my CC that was just promoted from TP to Master, and he's thrilled!  He beat a Legend in a match, admittedly because he got hot, and didn't gritch or moan a word....he celebrated.  He has never played a match for credits, I don't know that he ever will.  He's definitely no cheat or sandbagger.

This is the kind of guy that should be really, really angry right now, right?  Some people are just positive.  Some people are just negative whiners.  I know which I'd rather play golf with and hang around.

Just figured I'd mention this to all the cry babies out there complaining that WGT is promoting them too quickly since a guy like this is out there and won't ever say anything about it himself.

I dont mind the new idea, but I think its gone a bit far, i've gone from 61.96 too 61.2 in one RG at cabo... surely I dont deserve to be handed 'Legend' status just because of one 'hot' ready-go performance.. everyone knows the hardest part of getting to legend is getting through the 61s and mine has been handed to me..

Im a level 81 TM, its a bit hard to call me a sandbagger

    Richard4168:
I believe the most despondent players will concede, and accept the inevitable challenge that faces them.

And just what is this inevitable challenge?

Spending real money to buy fake golf clubs?

I can see nobody is getting the point of the arguement.

I love the fact that I have the title of Master. I want to get better. But guess what? I can't!!

    Not without spending money!!

I also understand that if the point of this game is that you can't get better without spending money, then I will walk away.

But I just can't be compettive with starter clubs at the Master tier. Nobody can. And then the fun is gone. And I just don't understand why I can't be left at the Tour Pro tees with the limited clubs I can afford.

It seems perfectly reasonable to include ANY stroke play game.  They take the same skills.  If someone is playing only challenges for credits, and those games don't lead to an increase in average, where will that lead?  Yeppers.

Firstly congratulations to WGT for attempting to address this issue, whether what they have done is having the right effect is obviously debatable.

As several have mentioned, if we all play from the same tees then this negates the majority of the sandbaggers arsenal, I dont see why anyone should have different tees if you are in any form of matchplay.

The ongoing issue is why wont many of these "sandbaggers" tier up - simple, just advancing levels they are still elligible for the best equipment and therefore no incentive and they have a huge distance asvantage. Simple fix - make the equipment tier based instead and play from the dsame tees. Yes the horse has well and truly bolted but moving forward this should provide the incentive.

I personally don't play for credits and I am just a recreational player, but I want to play as well as I can and for me acheiving a higher tier is my reward. Others obviously don't see it that way.

For me the problem mainly exists with the Level 90+ Tour Pros and below, and only play multiplayer games but if its not for credits, does it really matter? Just enjoy the game, after all, thats all it is at the end of the day.

As I see it, sandbagging and cheating will not be banned but it will become more uncomfortable to that pack. Both ways of their raking in discussion, to avoid ranked play or to utilize the games given for tourney wins (e.g. 45 between Pro and Master) will become shorter since they will be promoted faster than they think - an advantage for every honest player.

OTOH, some casual players may be pushed into their tier of incompetence, being pressed towards premature purchases. This may be WGT's advantage in the deal.

match play is figuring into it as well.

Seems rather unfair to me that u can adjust a players average through matchplay games, what about conceded putts?   Conceded holes even......

A bit more thought should have gone into this before pandereing to the usual whingers on here....

    Just saying....   Sara

This ain't classic average calculation any more but - in comparison with real golf - HCP setting by a committee. These golfclub authorities, as well as WGT, would take into account results which usually aren't affecting the HCP/average, in cases of relevant results.

Not unfair at all, but a good way to get behind sandbaggers..
