  The above pictures (right click - view image for full size) are the result of my investigation of what clubs I should go for. This is my attempt to put a couple of things in perspective; for my self, and others looking for what to do with their credits.... and what not to do.

  First of all, my current equipment:

  My first purchase was the 1415 Credits Pro Full Set (Pro+) and I got gifted from my generous country club owner the TaylorMade R11S 9.5 Driver (L40+). I still play the free starter putter.

  I was wondering how many credits I would need to in the end fit the bag the way I would like to, so I made an excel sheet and started gathering information. I was a bit shocked to see the totals add up to 9000 credits for my set of choice, and that's without buying any further upgrades on my way to the necessary levels for the mentioned clubs, and without an upgrade of my soon to buy Daytona putter.

  At this moment I am lvl53 and I was looking forward to reaching lvl 59. I planned to go for the PING G20 Full Set (L59+) for a respectable 3995 credits, but looking into it in a bit more detail I figured that that would not be much of an upgrade to my driver and that after dropping the hybrid for a wedge, there is no reason left to buy the complete set.

  Furthermore I did not yet have a clear picture of what equipment would suite me well in the end. I just know I don't want to waste my credits on equipment that has no use when being a legend (one day). I already figured it would certainly not be a disadvantage to have all equipment running the same meter speed, although I am not sure if that goes for the putter as well.

  I want to keep the option to also play the free balls open, so the faster meter speed clubs are out of the question. I am about to just not get used to the meter speed 2,5 of my current set, so I am rather sure I will in the long run get used to the meter speed 2 clubs I am aiming for. In the meantime I will only gain benefit from playing slightly faster clubs until then. There you have the reason why I am not going for the PING G20 Iron Set (L59+). With meter speed 1,5 it's too slow. Going with that set would mean I now slow down from 2,5 to 1,5 and then later speed up to speed 2. Gone would be the benefit of playing a slightly fast set now.

  So I think I will sit a bit more on my credits. The only buy I'm rather sure of doing in the meantime is the Daytona Putter 2011 (L55+). I expect it will learn me if one of the two putters with meter speed 2 (of them blue blocks) are an option or not; and with 725 credits it is rather cheap.

  I was by the way a bit surprised with the lack of choice in wedges with meter speed 2.

  I'm not going into this in detail, just two thoughts:

  - G20s and R11s "bite" because of their different meter speeds.

  - your sheet includes various expensive putters which raise the balance.

  The Daytona putter is a very good putter and will stand you in good stead until the level 92 Ghost. So what i'm saying is, don't bother with the Redwood Putter. It's not that good in my opinion.

  Thx for the advice Dazza. From Daytona to lvl92 Ghost is most probably the way I'm going. After I gathered enough credits for the lvl83 Ping G20 Full set, I will have enough time for gathering new credits for upcoming purchases through to the lvl 92 Ghost putter.

  Update:

  With level 67 after 67 consecutive days played I'm now halfway to level 83 (which is needed for the major upgrade to the level 83 PING G20 set). I'm still rather convinced I found the right way to go at it, as far as buying the right equipment at the right moment goes.

  Last week I produced my first 30 round on St. Andrews. Could have easily been a 28. I missed a really easy birdie putt, got annoyed and lost concentration... and missed the even more easy par putt, but ok, still happy with my first 30 (including the bogey). Shot with my tour pro set, Taylormade R11S (lvl40) Driver, Daytona Putter and of course the free ball.

  Still my current clubs have awfully  fast meters for playing the free ball, but it becomes more and more manageable in time, and as explained before, I play them fast clubs on purpose to be prepared for the switch to PING G20's. My guess is I can play them well with the free balls, after being used to slightly faster clubs.

  • When your average score is equal or smaller than 100 you go from hack to amateur.
  • When it is equal or smaller than 80 you go from amateur to pro.

  Notice that those minimal number of ranked rounds are also the number of best rounds used to compute your average in that particular tier. So if you are Tour Master for example, your average is computed with your best 50 ranked round (that's why you need at least 50 rounds to move up).

  Rock... food for thought... Looking at your current arsenal, the items you lack right now that can lower your score a lot is a good set of wedges. Those Pro's only have 1/2 spin where as a decent set of of wedges will have at least 31/2. What that gives you is a lot more control over your short approach & around the the green shots. That is of course if you don't want to continue to play a bump and run game. By losing your Hybrid and adding a 4th wedge would give you a lot more to work with in the most important part of the game being the short game as the your 3W can handle any distance your hybrid would.

  Thanks for the advice oldbayrunner. I am however not looking for better scores right now. All I am looking for is xp points to get at the level at which I can get the clubs that I can use for the rest of my WGT carreer. Of course replacement of my current wedges (and rest of setup as a matter of fact) would immediately improve my scores, but this only would be temporary equipment, for what I can get now (being level 67) won't be good enough to compete in the long run. I have limited possibilities to gather credits and I can't spent 'm twice. So, patience for me.

  perhaps a possibility to consider .. the Bladez (what used to be Burner 2.0) irons are little less expensive than G20's & available at lvl79 .. 

  mtr slightly faster than G20 mtr, but they are longer & more accurate than G20's and produce a lot more spin than G20's could ever hope for ..
