YJ, I was thinking the same thing, but then realized I dont think I have ever seen a flat bottom cup, they are always curved.  So the walls are slanted at the bottom forcing the first ball in to be sitting in the middle of the cup.  it probably would work if the bottom were flat.

Great find, neil Still going to verify it this weekend but that's exactly why I've never see 2 balls totally flat in the cup, now that I picture it.

Yeah Neil 99% of the holes that I see are slopped starting about 4 inches down to the bottom, probably helps drainage or at least keeps the bottom inch of the hole from being wet all the time and allows the pin to stay in the hole.  If you put a flat surface in the hole where the slant starts that covers the hole, you could get two balls in there easily.  Another thing to think of is that a ball will fall in the hole between the pin and the side of the hole on either side of the hole, thus the hole will hold 2 balls plus the pin at any one time.

A little research over the weekend. The cup has a tapered bottom.

    TheLighterDark:
I've talked with many people about it and we've come to the conclusion that the hole in WGT is just a little bit smaller than in real life, and if you look at it in comparison to the golfer and the course, it is.

For what its worth...On BPB #1 a close-up of the hole and grid lines.

Grid lines are said to be 2 feet apart, 24 inches, and I can fit the image of 6 cups exactly between the grid lines.  That says the cup is exactly 4 inches wide on WGT, not the legal 4.25 inches specified.  Kinda confirms what TLD and the others are suspecting.

Once again i ask when are we going to get a lipout award to go with the stupid yik and choke relief wards?  Lipouts are more common than birdies on all the courses. An  award that needs to be added if one is added is an award for chip-ins .  These lip outs are really sad for the game of golf and this site.  Come on WGT  fix the bug.

Thanks for that picture andyson.  I'll definitely ask them to have a look at what's going on there.

LOL - Seriously though, andyson with those skills have you checked the ball size in relation to the hole?

Might be a pretty tough task, maybe the ball is a hair smaller also making the relationship still equal in terms of difficulty.

If not, I want my money back!  And my Mommy!   LOL
