    alpenpirat:
i will throuw all my clubs out, & the onliest and best combo i saw here on this weekend are the:       Max Clubs with Starter Balls.

LOL. You had me there for a minute. :-D

I played those Max irons to see what the deal was and can say I did learn something. I played 3 MP rounds with them (got my % up to 90-woohoo) and went 2-3. The first round was with the Tour-SD ball I use with the R11s. Think I dinged about 3 or 4 shots and lost 3 down. The meter has serious acceleration in the last half and takes serious concentration to get close.

I played the 2nd round with the Nike X ball and the speed was the same as R11s's with the Tour-SD ball. Plenty of dings and the accuracy is there. The yardage of the clubs totally blows, though. The 3i only goes 205 and doesn't carry worth a darn. The set PW goes 100, same as the CG100-major conflict there.  BPB#4 will never be an eagle opportunity with them, not even from the "over" position-you can't get there!

The third round was with the Callaway spinner and the meter was a touch faster. More dings and more confirmation that these are strictly low level clubs with Legend accuracy BUT you have to pay for that accuracy with pricey balls. And there's no way you're going to hang from the back tees.  :-)

I tried everything I wanted and it seems like this is gonna be my only buy today.  Great feel.  Slow meter.  Great precision and feel.  I really like it.

I tried the L77 Nike putter for a few rounds.  I can see how it could grow on you, but I soon went back to my L92 Ghost.  If I were shy of level 92 I'd probably stick to the Rossa, or maybe pick up the Nike, but the Ghost is serving me well.

I really appreciate the free club rental weekend. I rented the ATV wedges and found them to be fantastic. The R11S driver and 3 wood is noticeably better across the board as well. I rented the MAX putter, but was missing short putts with the 10' default scale, and went back to my Daytona putter where I scroll-up to the 30' scale. New putter jitters.

I'll definitely be purchasing the the 54, 60, and 64 degree ATV wedges, and the R11S driver and 3 wood.

The R11s driver is a beast.  Looking forward to getting the matching 3-wood in a few months when I hit level 95.

Thanks to this whole "try any club you want" stuff, I now have a new 3 wood, new irons, a new putter, and a LOT less credits then I started this weekend with. It's ridiculous that WGT does this stuff without thinking of the effects it will have on a person's psychy, not to mention their credit stash. Shame on WGT for this atrocity and the mental wounds it could have and probably has inflicted on countless individuals. What's next, half price golf balls, free trial putter pals, discounts on anything else that isn't a club? Is there no end to this madness?

Seriously, thank you, WGT. I had been debating a new putter for a while, with no clear-cut winner, but, after trying them, the decision was so much easier to make. The other upgrades just kind of happened. LOL My inventory had more stuff in it then a hoarder's garage. Thanks again.

I too fell for this trickery from the WGT. I now own a R11 club set and a couple Cleveland wedges.

    Yes it is trickery!

Been playing the Burner irons forever, rented the R11's and promptly aced Oakie #16 in heavy winds.......Me thinks WGT did it on purpose to make me upgrade......lol

This may have been mentioned, but did the OP click 'Buy' instead of 'Rent'?

Not sure where the rental trickery is.

I've been debating swapping out my Ping Tour W wedges for the CG's but didn't really notice much difference between them.  But, at least I got to try them.  I'm not buying high dollar balls just to get a real benefit if that's what is needed so it's not a big deal.

This is exactly the same as me. I tried the clevelands and didn't notice much difference at all. Golf balls is the only equipment that will currently take my game to the next step quickly, but I don't want to spend that much money on something that doesn't last.

True, the lower level CGs are nothing special. However, when you try the ones for 900 credits, it's a whole new ball game. You're best advised not to put ANY additional back spin on the ball, cause it'll roll 15 yards back. And you actually need to put full top spin on the ball, if you want it to stop dead, cause it rolls back about 2 yards with no added spin.

That is interesting to hear. I knew that the higher level CGs were better but it is certainly good to have some numbers. Are these numbers based on higher level balls, because I wonder how the cheaper balls move on the green in comparison.
