    cobaltm:

Ya can't cash out so it ain't gambling. ... 15 pages of thoughts and whatnot and nobody considered this......really?

A good point. It seems plausible that the gift cards could have been removed because they were too much like actual cash. Without going into the whole issue, it seems that what is or is not considered gaming is a question of legal interpretation. There can be a fine line, and the line is drawn in different places in different jurisdictions and interpreted differently. Just a thought. The discussion here has focused on the ratio between the nominal value of the credits and the nominal value of the prizes for which they could be cashed out, but the reasoning behind the change might be more than just the business model.

Especially as you immediately see new countries and states allowed to play for credits.

I think the point was made before that the removal of the gift cards and introduction of new states "allowing" WGT is unlikely to be coincidental and points towards a causal relationship.

Wish WGT would just be honest about it and say that's why rather than telling us they listen to their customers etc.

I read that this WAS NOT a gambling website.

Obviously.  Gambling sites are reputable compared to this game.

Nor do Gambling sites have business plans that include driving off their top customers.

It seems you don't understand snowgoat. A majority of the credits are being won by the top credit earners. The credits the better players win without an investment outweigh the amount of credits a handful of players are buying for whatever. It all comes down to how many players are actually buying credits, and how many players are using a daily pool of credits to play credit games.

WGT was giving gift cards away for free to the players who were capable of winning max Ready-Go credits on a daily basis. Its the better players who were capable of winning credits for gift cards. WGT relies on new players spending real money for new equipment and credit games. Its a wash for WGT after a player crosses the credit threshold.

WGT just allowed me to start playing Ready-Go's and games for credits. I had 916 credits in my account from surveys and videos when I started playing Ready-Go's. If I was to win the amount of credits needed for a gift card, I would of obtained that card for free. WGT would have received a phantom 20% juice, and I'd be spending real cash on Amazon.com.

From a business standpoint, I don't blame WGT for discontinuing the gift card program. If you were a player capable of winning the proper amount of credits for gift cards, then I totally understand why you're upset with WGT's decision on discontinuing the gift card program.

I only used WGTniv as an example to make my initial point.

It would be nice if WGT would let the players with bags to change balls without ending the game. Balls ARE supposed to be in the bag right?

It gets so frustrating to run out of good balls during a game and have to use the WGT rocks. I mean what is the use of a golf bag if you can remove clubs but cannot change balls. If they did that everyone in the game would have a bag!

Credits dont just appear from no where.  When i started i invested a few $$ from credit card, but 2 years later had accumulated 3,000 short of a gift card (then WGT takes them away!) All the credits I've picked up have had to come from somewhere, yes, you can make credits by watching videos but that must be a tiny %, most of its probably comes from others credit cards and it ends up in "better" players accounts. All of us who've accumulated credits have taken other players credits which have all had to come from somewhere as credits just dont appear from thin air.  Yes, surveys credits might come from "thin air" but WGT must have a deal with these to cover their backs.  I buy a pack of Nikes a day from my credits and those credits I have probably came from Joe average playing poorly in a ready go after depositing $20 worth of credits and decided to try his luck in a ready go, but only scored a 68

Don't care about those stupid bags or those over rated avatars. My problem is your stupid thing tells me I have to except cookies 3rd party cookies! I've be doing surveys for over a year now all of a sudden wgt is telling me that I need to except them? This happen to me one other time and all of a sudden it worked again so I know it's on your side the problem exist. Another thing Why is it that when you play a skins game and at the end of 9 holes and no one as won a hole does the play stop but you take your cut of the credits..

That's just it Chris. We don't know if Joe player deposited real money into his/her account for credits, or just had a bad Ready-Go and lost a few hundred credits from a pool of thousands of accumulated credits from all the other Ready-Go's him/her were successful in.

The larger amount of credits the better players have came from playing WGT tournaments and winning them. Those tournaments don't cost anything to enter. Like I said in my first post, WGTniv invested $1 and became a really good player that propelled him to the top of the money earnings leader-board.

Many players in this thread have stated they have not made an investment in this game of any kind and have still accumulated all the top equipment as they've progressed through the tiers. The only way to do that is to be a better player and win tournaments, or do surveys and watch videos.

Many players have always said the free WGT tournaments alone have kept them in premium golf balls.
