How many of you pull that pin on par 3s and/or approach shots?

I have.  But, I don't.  I don't see it screw me often enough.  I've pulled the pin and seen shots I thought would have dropped in the past also cruise right over the hole or lip out.  I'm about sold there's no benefit either way.

    Your turn.

I pull the pin for shorter chips and pitches ... when I remember to, lol. Shots like these that used to drop with pin in, say, 6 months or so ago; now 'hit the stick' and leave tap-ins at least half the time. So I've taken to pulling the pin.

I don't bother pulling for other shots - at the risk of getting a one-in-a-thousand chance shot that hits the top of the stick and 'ricochets' 100 yds away.

I have in the past but now I am leaving it in. One of the few awards that I don't have is the hit every flag stick on a few of the courses. So i am leaving it in to try to get those.

In past I have lost a DE and a one hole-in-one by not pulling it but also have had a couple of shots that would most certainly been way over the green hit the pin and bounce back a few feet leaving me an easy birdie or eagle putt.

On approach shots using any kind of full shot I never have pulled the pin, I have 9 HIO, and 3 DE, and really don't think leaving it in ever cost me a hole out.

What is considered a "double eagle"? 3 under for the hole?

Are we golfers? Or are we virtual golfers? I thought it was a rule of golf to leave the pin in until on the green, and as such that is the way I play it! I also pull the pin when putting as I thought that was also a rule! I know the pin is pulled automatically! That's just the way I play! My $.02

My first miss of an eagle was hole 1 St. Andrew's 72 yards out (pro tier then).  Ball hit the pin & just stopped. Putt in birdie at 0.1, since then I've been pulling the pin out on par 3's & approach shots.  Never know when that lucky shot is going to go in.  One hole in one, left the pin in ball went in.  One double eagle, pull the pin, ball went in.  Pull the pin out.  Par 3's & approach shots.  I do.

Nope... you may remove the pin anytime you want.  Though I've never seen anyone hike 150 yards down the fairway to remove the pin for their shot.  Then walk back and replace it for others in their group.

Though I may try that soon with my golf buddies, just to see the reaction.
