    mantis0014:

Just on a side note,  I haven't see the top100 list out for awhile Genorb, are you still doing them. I found it quite interesting to read.

    Hi Roger,

yes I still plan to publish them on a regular basis. I stopped for a while because of the new tour legend tier. Indeed, at some point some players, who should clearly be among TL, were still at legend tier. Moreover when you just reach tour legend the average fluctuate a lot because it's a true average computed with a small number of rounds. So I thought that it would be good to wait few months in order to have enough player in the tour legend tier and to have the average stabilized a bit.

I will try to publish two ranking, one for legend and another one for TL. I hope to have enough time to publish two lists...

    Regards

I think this is one huge wind up by WGT to keep yer all on ter toes! Can you really see WGT implementing this as standard play???? Maybe it will be an alternative play format but i can't see this ever being in their plans for mainstream circulation!..seems like something to get yer attention to me!!

UL is awesome, although still few top players still insist is out of sense to play them, WGT is doing great testing the UL on easy fairways courses, out of that, the real deal will be to play Olympic for example with it's monster uneven fairways, rough & sand, some people will cry playing there....but never mind, they will need to learn the feature if they want to keep playing here at WGT in the elite TL group.

I already see some of the TL with pretty smart averages not playing any new tournament at all...those are the ones who will try to avoid playing UL tournes and will keep talking bad about the feature.

As Tess showed in her videos, it is just a matter of practice to master UL, practice & practice. At TL level is should be easy to change gear and play at top level as your average.

Well, my dream comes true...uneven lies is here forever!!!

    Eric

EDIT, I wouldn't be surprised if WGT releases soon the draw & fade feature by moving the dot sideways, all is there and programming should not be difficult.

That's a good point. I believe that not much are questionning this because actually the game is already hard enough. There are only quite few players scoring low regularly. For the vast majority, many of them never post here, they struggle (but you can still have fun playing with others etc.).

The game should not be designed for just few players scoring low. But that's just my opinion. Believe it or not, I am writing this thinking to the majority of players. I am not thinking to myself, I can quickly adapt so I do not bother (I just posted a 58 in that uneven lies tournament with a stupid 5ft putt missed). The game should not be spoiled by becoming too hard otherwise many will stop and many will not even start (or stop the day they started :) ). But may be I am wrong...

    CerinoDevoti:

Of course it makes the game way easier to score so we have averages that are incredibly low and we like it that way.

I don't think average is the point. What is important is how you compare yourself to others in tournaments. So even or uneven lies, having 55 or 65 as average is not important for the competitions. But as it is now, uneven lies makes the game look a bit odd and unrealistic. It makes the game unnecessary difficult which is bad for the vast majority of players.

    AGREED :)

Had two practice runs at Olympic F9 (UL) and struggled to post +5 on both occasions. Bunker play; or lack thereof;  was the culprit in this hideous debacle !! That stupid 'Flashing Red Box' ensures you're not getting out even with a full wedge shot from 10 yards out ( Tried several shots from that position and none works). It wasn't even frustrating as much as it was laughable !!

To reiterate the point of many, the concept of side-hill lies incorporated with the ability to Draw/Fade, to compensate, is much welcomed.... yada yada yada !! But Damn ! I mean Dayummmmm !!!!

    Edit :

In case you care to share in the laughter , How's this for a start :-

Champ tees, Heavy winds, Tournament greens & Uneven lies

It's true what they say : Quit while you're ahead !! Bwahahhahhahahaha !!

I normally go to Oly with high winds and UL...it is tough, very, but that is, in my opinion, that best way to learn the UL feature, just for curiosity I went to play the Links in another pc, also with high winds...well great help somehow.

Wait til you have done 10-20 rounds out thereat Oly with the UL Justine, better scores will come.

Disagree with the OB (Fabian) about making the game more difficult, the game is VERY easy the way it is now.

Eric, no practice will help in bunker play, which to me is the most ridiculous part of the whole UL thingy ! Once in a bunker; especially with the 'Red Box'; I get in defensive mode. Basically trying to get out and put it somewhere on the green for some kinda putt ( 15-25 ft putt). So for it not to get out with a punch shot is nonsense ! Am I right ?

I think it could be standard play. I really hope the 2013 virtual US Open is played in UL's. If when I joined UL's were simply normal play here, I'd still be here playing.

We tell newbs all the time when they come to the message boards and complain after only a couple of days...practice, practice, practice and practice some more. It just gets easier the more you play it and the more you accept the results. This is the same.

Sure hope the field takes the time to play some practice rounds on Olympic before you guys and gals go at it for real unless you're very familiar with the UL's on Olympic. I'd hate to see anyone throw away their round.

Practice certainly helps. Did you hit a full punch shot with your sand wedge, 52 wedge or even your pitching wedge if it was a severe uphill lie? Also, the red box is your caddie telling you that the shot you're about to attempt is super high risk. You can move the aimer around the bunker looking for a yellow box shot or even a green one. Just slamming it at the pin doesn't always work. That's the beauty of UL's, you actually have to have course management in mind and risk management as well. Kinda just like the pros playing in an open Tourney. It's designed that way.

There was a reason the pros said at the 2012 US Open on Oly  that if you could get through the first 6 holes in par, you're ahead of most of the field. Those first 6 holes will separate most of the players right away. Birdie 7 and 8 like you life depends on it. Starting at the 9th hole are a series of holes that take you through draws and fades with the mid to long irons. It's simply brilliant how the course was designed to test a players ability to move the ball each way. The ground lies match up with the pin locations and you hit those draws to left side pins and the fades to the right. Aiming at the bunkers on the opposite side of the pin locations will mostly get you near the holes. You just have to pick clubs and distances with experience. Some practice rounds can easily get you honed in enough to play a respectable Tourney round.

Dammit I wish I could be playing in this one.;-)
