    CerinoDevoti:
    what was the wind?

    Low wind/champ greens.

All in all I'm happy with even par..3 birds and 3 bogies spread out..

Looking at the scores posted so far, it looks a lot more like a real life leader board on a difficult course.

There are some glaring penalties, even from FW lies...but most can be worked around to save par...I also noticed that side hill lies (even with no dots coming towrds you nor against) required an extra club.

All in all I like it...I'd rather not have to aim 15 yards off the green and still hit early or late, but it's still manageable.

I think those that can putt will be the first to overcome the large distance to pin..and those with a good short game...hmmmn...look at the leader board...I'm right!

Also just finished the UL round on Oly.

Compared to a real golf round I have some issues:

    1. For a 'green' uneven lie on the fairway you have to adjust like for a 25mph side wind and that is not only on long iron shots but also on short iron shots to the green.

    2. Shots from just outside of the green also need big adjustments.

So in my opinion this is not like IRL golf. The only time I had to make those adjustments are at a golf course by the sea, where the wind was blowing heavily inland and I had to aim to the sea to land on the green (distance around 150-160 yards).

Especially the adjustments needed for green uneven lies and short iron shots are not realistic. Anyway I think it is possible to get used to that. An even bigger problem is the loss of distance on uphill shots. For me this is not predictable and also not realistic, compared to real golf shots uphill.

Thank god I had no bunker shots, so I cannot write anything about that.

Anyway the effect of uneven lies should be toned down, so it reflects real golf

I'm playing my round now. 4th fairway there's a severe slope as everyone knows. I've just aimed way left to allow for the slope and the ball went exactly where i aimed it. It's f***ed up i tell ya.

    GoodyChamp:

    Cheers, GC

To me you were playing fantastic til hole 18 when you missed fairway...

Errrrr, this is the trick, with the "predictable" and EASY way to resolve problems from the rough under NORMAL conditions, you might have birdied the hole 18!! for a decent score, but NOW you are in trouble not only because of landing in the rough in such important and tough hole coming from rough but by being under UL the hole was a mess...practice, if you have played the hole only trying to find fairway and save your par other nicer card must have been scored.

See Tess videos, she is making her calculations considering some margin of error and hitting the bloody ding ever so often that her amazing score looks surreal. I wish I could hit some many dings (or a hair close to the ding), as her in any regular round, she even made a bird from chipping under UL, she did not got lucky, she had in mind that shot thinking that is was UL not normal conditions.

I doubt pretty much the top players who think this UL is silly, to much, etc, would leave WGT because of that, it will be a matter of short time before they start delivering great scores too with UL.

    Cheers, Eric

Just finished my second round...Tough round :)

I had 3 bogeys on #4 - #10 - #17 and many hard putts to save par here and there...

I like this new kind of challenge that can put us in a position to begin a new way to play this game...but personally I think it should be done a lot of work by WGT to make it believable in all its peculiarities.

After my third bogey on #17 i was little disappointed, but when i started this round I knew that I wanted to post any results i achieved... A bit of "magic" in the end helped me out to score a 66 that makes me smile for all the difficulties i met during this round :)

My first Eagle with UnevenLies on #18 from 51y,  Hit 89 full bs LOL

Congrats to Tess and Goody for their rounds and to all those who posted any score in the final round  :)

1)Do you compare the normal even lies game play to real life golf? 100% flat lies all the time on courses your eyes tell you are very bumpy and rolling? Every bunker flat as a pancake when you know you've landed in the face with a severe upslope or worse a downslope? Again, why does everyone accept the unrealistic game play of "even lies" but have so much criticism of uneven lies?

    2) How much should the effect of even lies be toned up so it gets anywhere close to real life golf?

IMO, if uneven lies is toned down any more the even lies game play needs to get way harder. Right now one is no more realistic or unrealistic than the other.

When you look at a leaderboard of a US or British Open, it's the same as well. Putt great, save pars with a great short game and manage risk and reward throughout the round. This is Open Golf.

P.S. Low Wind, really? I'm a little surprised at that.

Just finished my round and actually quite enjoyed it. 5 birdies, 3 bogeys and an outrageous pitch in from 40/50. First time I have played unevens round Olympic and it was ,as expected, tough.

How anyone can think the current gameplay is realistic or indeed desirable is beyond me. I am very much pro uneven lies going forward but not in this variance.

Just finished....  I knew I should have stated drinking and had a few drinks before starting.....lol....  Better than I thought Actually,  +4..... +3 on the front.

It was a nitemare, but I enjoyed it at the same time.

I hit every fairway off the tee, made sure of that., lol...   then the fun started.

    Few things I noticed....

My R11 (s) 3 wood was really good off the fairway.... not too much left or right shots off the fairway, compared to the Irons on the UL....   Irons had a huge left or right aim to the green.

Shots coming up short....  I've read most of the thread and I knew to hit harder... clubs I was using to the green, normally would have flown the green by miles... were coming up short of the green.

I had to careful too with the aim to green.....  all the Lies on the fairway were extreme (above or below feet)....  when I aimed for that... the colors of the box started to change. I just wondering if you have a yellow box and aim for that lie... if it turns to green, then the shot will not have as bad a direction.

eg... yellow box.... ball above the feet.... so you aim way way right to cover the lie... If the box turns to green, then it won't have a huge swing from right to left and you end up further right that you thought.

I also had a Orange box in the Bunker...40/50 ...  the ball looked like it was sitting in a bowl of water....lol. If I hit it to pin... then 3 shots in bunker I think. So I moved the aim again until it turned green... which was basically behind me,  hit out 15 yrds on fairway.

The only thing about the colored boxes... you can't really see if it's a uphill or downhill lie properly....   you can see the arrows move left and right... that's ok.. hard to see the arrows move up or down.

Too hard at the moment...  I was getting annoyed, so I hit a PW (120) to green... 77 yrds to pin... drop shot of green in the heavy rough at the front...ugh..lol

Don't like to see this standard....  might need a 120 sec clock for Multi Play games...

The closer to the green you are the more extreme it is...

but, I still enjoyed it in a way....

Happy New Everybody......  Keep Safe :)
