It was a real pleasure playing a round with hyena64 as tough as it was watching him struggle throughout the game. Have to give him credit he stuck in there and made some awesome bunker shots. We started out rough and it just kept snowballing from there. My goal was to shoot a 77 or less but missed that because of leaving at least 3 shots on the course. Had 3 par putts come up inches short. Both putters must have still been asleep because they sure didn't act like they wanted anything to do with this early morning round.
And here is the rest of the story:

My submission form is also turned in. Off to get me a little bit of the recipe and then to RSG not that is going to do any good.
    The End

    ColumbusStorm:
Round 3 on Olympic for joewaters and ColumbusStorm

Not very impressive start and even a worse finish.

Really need to practice more. My couple practice rounds were better; 74 for 18 and 36 on front 9. Probably just choke when I know it really counts.

    joewaters:
It was a bloody disaster Russ, let's not mince words. I birdie for me and 2 for Russ.

I'll have better clubs next week,  Oooops, No I won't. I'm gonna murder RSG to be sure.

I have back-up pics if anything is missed.

    Hi Russ & Joe,

Well, the beginning of Olympic is simply brutal. If you remember, the pros at the U.S. Open were extremely happy if they came through the first 6 holes only 1 or 2 over... and the closing holes are really deceptive. #15 seems like an easy birdie, but it can easily go horribly wrong, and then we're programmed to think the par 5s should be birdieable, but these 2 can be evil... and 18 is just a major accident waiting to happen: par is an excellent score there.

I find Olympic to be an extraordinary test: yes, it helps to practice (and take notes) as so many shots require unexpected extra clubs or a particular method of bouncing on to the green... but even then, you have to be on top form, dinging consistently (or at least, if you're not, missing the ding on the best side, against the slope), or you'll pay the price.

(Joe: only thing missing is your green and approach shots, just to confirm your clubs. Otherwise, all good. Thanks!)

I thank you for the kind words sir, but I believe you're being too kind. It was like watching someone try to play golf on the Hindenburg during a volcanic hurricane!  The most atrocious thing I've done in years.  I will never quit, but I sure gave up this round, & am ashamed to admit it. By hole 6, I was done. Never caved like that before; not even in my atrocious 1st round. I will play on, root for everyone, but watch from afar & stay out of the way.  Prize for biggest boob perhaps?  LOL

Sounds like a real tough morning for you both... Sorry to hear that, but kudos for sticking it out. In this format, there's no place to hide!

Steve: your GIR was excellent though... second only to Hans so far. And David, on the Hindenburg, wouldn't your putter at least be on fire... ? Commiserations to you after such a rough experience. :(

    hyena64:
Corwyn, question.  I understand we are able to play practice rounds with our partner beforehand, as long as we announce the real thing.  Is it Kosher, by the same token play a quick 3 just before teeing off for real, just to get some rythm & shake the cobwebs?  I know we could play a whole practice match, but that to me would be tiring. We're all honorable men here; otherwise you'd have never seen my score today.  Just curious: as by hole 3 today, I had wished we had done so.  Just a little warm up.  I did shoot some practice holes before, but not the same pace & such.

Absolutely! Of course that's OK. We don't have the benefit of a range and putting green, so by all means, go out there and ready yourselves with a random 3. (Random 3 would be the best choice, just to avoid any temptation to keep going if it all was going beautifully... Keeps a clear distinction between warm up and the real deal.)

I am going to be honest here and this shows you what type of fellow hyena64 is.

He asked me about the above fore mentioned and I told him I didn't know if you could do that. Matter of fact it was on the 3rd hole. I asked him if he wanted to re-start and his answer was no lets keep going.

I don't know what else to say other than maybe we should have for his benefit.

Wow! Nice putting, Joe. What would we all give to be out in 32... ?

FYI: I was sent the cards and shots from FairwayRuepel68 and Camotto's game earlier today. Here they are:
