    Still catching up...

Here is the card and screenshots for Wassernixe and johehejo. They played yesterday and are in the clubhouse at Olympic with 79 and 76 respectively, their best rounds of the tourney so far. Congratulations, both of you.

    Corwyn:

Well, Cerino and I just finished, with neither of us able to reproduce anywhere near our best in practice. In Cerino's defense, he had a lot of real-life stuff on his mind: for someone who has plotted his way expertly around Olympic, and has a deep understanding of how the course functions, it was sad to see him shoot below potential. Mostly, his putter wasn't performing, but he made a great recovery from a dreadful start of +3 after 3.

I had the strangest schizophrenic round, following great shots with abysmal ones. I just couldn't find a consistent rhythm. And my recovery shots, so critical on Olympic, were just not behaving today. A 3-putt on #4 (after a great GIR) was terrible, and I made a total hash of #11, with 4 bad shots in a row... but the worst was making an awful mess of the 2 par 5s, when I thought I still had a chance to go under par for the round. I limped home with 71, but given how several 20+ foot putts were drained, it could have been so much better.

    Corwyn: 71   CerinoDevoti: 72

I started off horridly going +4 after 5 holes (a repeat of R1 for me). With my meter jumping somewhat, I was absolutely gutted having played well in practice over the last few days. Once I managed to calm down, I came home in a -3 total through the final 12 holes. This could've been so much better with three putts hanging on the edge and a flagsticked shot on 16.

My GIR (33%) was 30% under what I was hitting in practice so I was pleased with my scrambling but it was still a frustrating end result on a round where I was looking to be 2-3 shots better than my end score.

Hey, James, what a shame to get a dodgy meter after shooting scores like 66 in practice. Sounds like you made a really impressive recovery though after the terrible start.

PS: Cards start at 1hr 22mins 52 seconds...........

Thanks for the precise pointer to the cards: very helpful! FYI: I counted 3 bogeys or worse on the card, rather than the 2 on your form.

3rd Round Leaderboard is now posted...

... and the Overall Leaderboard is here.

(I'm scrambling a little to catch up with everything, so please do check that your scores are marked down right. Thanks!)

We have 14 players now with completed 2nd Rounds, and 15 left to play their Olympic games (with a little over 3 days left for the round).

Mike & I are in the clubhouse, he with a 78 and a 72 for me.  I had to go to the basement to fetch an old, 1950's era baby name book because I was running out of girls' names to hang on Mike after all his short putts.  I totally spaced the UEL on the 2nd shot on the16th...played it as though even and wound up having to lay up from behind the trees, sealing an over-par fate.  I would have predicted 40% GIR and 27 putts, but not from 17.7 average to pin.  I didn't hole a tough putt until the 18th, where we both finished with our longest putt of the day.

I propose that Hans plays RSG with left handed women's starters, and WGT starter x-out balls.

I'm gunning to complete the tourney without any 3-putts.  Anybody else?

If only you had challenged me earlier, now it's spoiled for me: 1 - 1 - 2 :(

I wish you the best of luck!

I couldn't resist a quick (well, not so quick, lol) look back through the scorecards... and I believe everyone else is out of the running... except Cerino (with 3 rounds completed), and Mati (with 3rd round still to play).

I can sense another special prize in the offing here... Anyone want to sponsor this one? After all, this is one prize Hans can no longer win!
