Is any one using the Linux Ubuntu 12.10 OS to play?

I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 onto a new dedicated drive, loaded up Skype & the Chromium Web Browser.

My only problem (so far) is I can't get the Chronium "Application Shortcut" to work. In Windows & Chrome this application shortcut would give you a dedicated full screen for playing WGT on. While Chronium will allow me to create the "application shortcut", when I click on it it gives me "There was an Error Launching the application" & that's all it says. Is it possibly because Ubuntu 12.10 (at least as far as I know) won't allow you a full screen window? (keeps icons down left of screen).

    Any clues?

    Thanks

Well Sir I have used Xubuntu 12-04 with Chrome and Firefox. Sounds like the download or installation was faulty. Linux doesn't handle any flash very good, its a known problem! If you use Wine with Firefox, it will work fairly well, which I have used a number of times. I have never tried installing Chrome with Wine. I do not use full screen at all. Chrome is slower loading Wgt courses than Firefox which I think is because it loads multiple processes to do the same job. I will try the full screen on both browsers in Xubuntu and using Wine and get back to you.

Okay, I checked it out. I uninstalled Chrome and downloaded it and tried to install. I kept getting failed to ins appendices. I then fixed broken packages and it still gave same error. I the installed Chromium from software center without any errors. I ran WGT and without problems. Since a separate window is opened in game play, you click on the full screen icon in the bottom right corner. There is no advantage to this since what is displayed is white space at top and bottom of the screen so the view is the same as a window. It loads everything slow, including free credits as well as the game itself. The power stroke is not quite as smooth as it is under Windows XP, which is what I use to play the game. I do most other things using Linux tho, which I like very much. Hope this helps. Luck!

Thanks for all your help gewnegold2.

I was hoping Ubuntu would give me a better meter, less jitters etc but I did not know about Linux's problems handling Flash. I played a few practice random games last night & the meter was a bit jittery & the sound was about one second behind the action (?) ........

Back to the drawing board lol & back to Windows for playing WGT I guess, the meter isn't really too big of a problem.

I do like Ubuntu (run a pretty old version on my old puter) & will continue to work with/on it.

    Again, thanks for your help.
