A little more speculation...buyout by TGC would be a win/win/win:

Advantage for WGT (Chad):  $$$ and retirement

Advantages for TGC:  $$$ in the form of advertising and possibly subscriptions, prestige of owning the #1 online golf simulation, avenue for promotional links with PGA and other golf associations, expansion of media presence.

Advantages for us, the customers:  product taken out of beta, new courses added most certainly, probably many new brands of golf equipment added, quite possibly lower cost of premium equipment due to increased volume of customers (given that TGC's marketing department is savvy enough to see the advantage) and possibly a different game platform (no more Flash).

Maybe I'm crazy, or just maybe I'm crazy like a fox...time will tell.

i dunno mk .. u just might be on to somethin' .. that GC icon bottom right sure spells out some lvl of serious involvement to me ..

and IF u turn out to be right, it remains to be seen whether this game gets fixed to the satisfaction of the players or whether it gets run into the ground .. i suspect GC might have the know how to turn things around, but will they ?

the absence of an definitive response to this very active & deep thread adds to my suspicion that somethin' is up .. whose to say that GC didn't have a hand in this latest update with regards to the Elite Collection ?

if they did, what does that say then ?

right, i'm getting way ahead of myself here .. but there's somethin' rotten in the state of Denmark ..

    Tightrope:

It does not feel that they are preparing for the competition that surely will come (20 years ago there existed Golf games that was more promising and complex than what we are playing now so surely it must be possible to build something better than this). Take motor racing simulations for instance, they laser scan whole tracks to get every bump right, in pure 3D, using that technology it would not be difficult to make a green where we could move around freely to examine the breaks. For instance.

thats why i am such a fan of iRacing  ..

regarded as the best racing simulation in the world & used as a training tool by real pro dirvers like Dale Earnhardt Jnr, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Juan Pablo Montoya .. to name but a few ..

WGT could learn a lot from them in terms of professionally running a site ..

    The link worked for me:

    http://www.golfchannel.com/wgt-us-open-9-hole-challenge/

It's is a skills challenge at Olympic.

The website is an eyesore, Play occurs within the main web page. There's a leaderboard at the top that rolls vertically. Distracting as all get out. I metered myself when it rolled and caught my eye as I was about to ding a shot.

But the meter is smooth as silk...
