Excuse my snippings Jim, I don't want to discuss the problem here

Pffft. Then why did you ask?

I think that my question was quite clear in subject and addressee.

    Sorry that you were bothered.

As a veteran member of the community, I see WGT really slowing down, and I MEAN, sloooowing down. We are not getting ANY NEW  power - house players clawing there way through the ranks and at the SAME TIME we're "losing" whatever power-house players are left. NOW , this update. Man!

You are right OTE, here's some data that backs you up.  Keep in mind this is USA data only (one can assume the traffic trend extends to the world), and this is BEFORE the current debacle.

US unique visitors to wgt.com in November, 2012 is down 42% from Nov. 2011.  300,000 visitors were lost.

Any bets what January or February data will show?

this whole thing is T.I.T.S. up ..

i don't even play for credits, but this has really upset me .. i'll find it difficult to keep supporting a game where certain factions try and take u for a fool ..

i enjoy this game since i enjoy golf, but i feel my days here are numbered .. out of principle

the sense of being part of something that has a "fck u over" undercurrent does not sit well with me ..

luckily for me i have other sim game interests & WGT is not the holy grail for me despite the fact that i really enjoyed it .. there will be somethin' else eventually i'm sure where the entity & it's "marketing dept" might yet have the sense not to take it's supporters on an aggravating shyte ride ..

have to say tho, IF i had 500K in winnings, i'd use it on setting a meet with this "marketing dept" .. just 5 min .. no words .. just baseball bat to heads .. maybe knock some sense into 'em .. i digress

best of luck to all .. fingers crossed that this pathetic joke will have an agreeable resolution for y'all ..

Brilliant post Chris...... I really couldn't agree more.

Maybe this update was the best thing that could happen to WGT. At least now they should realize that they are balancing on a rather thin line and the patience of their customers are running out. There has always been people defending WGT's actions and, for instance, their pricing of the balls and the fact that we lose (expensive) balls when we shouldn't, but when it becomes more and more evident that WGT is more interested in extracting more $ from their loyal customers than to find new ones that can share the burden, then I think  more and more players will step away from the loyal category.

I have said it many times and I say it again - I do not mind paying for a nice game, but if I feel that I am being used, that those who get my money don't give a *** if I am happy with the product I'm buying or not, then I will think twice before giving them more of my money.

Its proper to provide the source of the data, got a link?  And it would be better back up if there was historical data showing a decline in popularity, right now it says its just lukewarm but we can't tell if its warming up or cooling off.   I suspect the later.

Yesterday morning at about 10:45 CST the member ship number assigned to the newest member of WGT on the forum page was 6,147,138, just now I checked it and the number is 6,152,939.  That is a flattering 5,801 Newb's in a little over 24 hours.  Each of these Newbies will decide if they like the game or not and most will not and will leave.  For those that decide to stay, each will begin to level up and begin to buy equpment, balls, avatar's etc and the money pile for WGT continues to grow.

Most of the people that are PO'd and Upset with WGT and their actions regarding game play and the recent change in the Elite collection that will probably leave the game now are at the top of the pile.  Many of them acquire balls with credits won in tournaments of one sort or another,  and even though some of us spend $50 or more per month playing, WGT looks at that new incoming number as a fresh money source to grow it's wealth, and if a few leave, it is no skin off their back, they know that tomorrow they will have another 3500 or so more newbies from which to draw income.  Based on recent observations, and reactions from WGT, I think WGT could care less about those that decide to leave.

Biggest market?  Yes.  But alexa.com shows this distribution of visitors to wgt.com

    Visitors by Country for Wgt.com

    Country

    Percent of Visitors

    India Flag  India   6.8%

    France Flag  France   6.7%

    Canada Flag  Canada   4.8%

    Spain Flag  Spain   4.1%

    Sweden Flag  Sweden   2.7%

South Africa Flag  South Africa   2.2%

    Australia Flag  Australia   1.8%

    Germany Flag  Germany   1.4%

So if the US is half the visitors then theoretically WGT lost a half million visitors world wide in one year.  And I stress theoretically because I have no data to back it up.
