  • Been Playing a few years and always wondered what this is?St Andrews hole #5.
  • I do have a few theories as to its purpose:

  1: Its a magic porthole that will instantly catapult any lucky player to hit it to Tour Legend Status.

  2:Its a old tire from Fred Flintstones golf cart.(it is "THE OLD COURSE").

  3:A place to rest your buns.

  4:A WGT spy Camera

  Please help,I fear I wont sleep tonight!!!!

  posted a picture,not seeing it,anyway that black thing that sticks out of fairway is what I am referring to.

  It is an old yardage marker.

  It's an ancient marker stone, I think they showed where the area owned by the course began.

  I think I hit it once or twice,Ball passes right thru it.Im gonna pack a cooler and go sit at it for a while.

  That is the headstone of my last caddie which i clubbed to death,when my ball went in the fescue.

  They used to be the boundary markers , there are a few more dotted around the course . There's one on the 7th too and another near the 2nd tee , sure there are more  , just can't remember exactly where .
