    Agree with Kriz here...

It's so hard to know what calculations need to be put in place for almost all shots.

    However...

I'm a big fan of putting becoming a crucial part of winning.

To quote my fellow CC member, "Let's play golf instead of darts".

I think what happens is we become so used to a certain "circle" of acceptable result with our fancy clubs and balls that when we can't get the ball in that circle with UL right away, we declare it unplayable. Frankly with a decent amount of practice and a positive attitude, any of the elite players should be able to score very well with UL's just as they do now.

Seriously guys, nearly 50% withdraws? Come on, even a -2 is a solid round here, it's golf again. Don't think about your average please....

No, it is not golf. You'd be hard pressed to find a professional golfer who couldn't get out of a green-side bunker in one and two-putt to salvage bogey (if the ball isn't completely buried and provided the ball is far enough from the lip of the bunker to hit). Most of the shots are predictable, but the effect of lie on some wedge shots around the green needs refining.

    Agreed.

I'm sure some will be able to figure out calculations, but I just sorta winged it this time to a 31...hitting a bit early against the slope..adding a few clubs here and there.

I think it's fun...frustrating, but fun as well.

I've found that punching the wedge with a lot of power is helpful to get you out of those "Red lie" bunkers  and onto the green.

my biggest problem is the greens, getting there is not the prob. No one is going to tell me ( PIZZA) that they don't tweek the greens in speed and the breaks. I get so damn frustrated, because shooting par, or -2 is not going to win you ***. When you shoot par on a par 5 you know your in trouble.

    Just saying

Is the ball's reaction from the steep, greenside lies all that unrealistic?

    Let's ask Lefty:

Whatever the case, I like 'em.  Putts are now 15 to 20 feet instead of 2 to 3 feet, and the game's becoming fun again.
