    hyena64:

Slur: Make damaging or insulting insinuations or allegations about.

Well dan, as this is the only definition of slur that could even come close to fitting here, I'd have to say you're wrong once again.  The only slur I can find throughout is you calling me an f'n liar dan.

Well, I guess if you wanted to nitpick, then you could say that the insinuations or allegations were technically insulting. However, if the truth about oneself is insulting; whose fault is that really?

I've reread the post a few times & see nothing there that isn't true in any land; not just fantasy land.  You got any specifics, happy to hear them.  If all you got are sweeping false blanket statements; I think we've all seen enough of those.

You did speak for everyone stating that everyone had meter issues at peak times. Simply untrue.

You did accuse me of lying.  Simply untrue. You really think I'm stupid enough to lie about a meter's performance on a computer game?  Where's the endgame there dan???  Deeeeeelusional!

Can't really speak to the part I didn't understand of your post, as you failed to explain it.

I did say you should go into politics. Now that was a bit of a low blow there, I'll admit. No one wants to be lumped in with that bunch. However, with all of your false allegations & broad sweeping untrue statements, it does seem you would be very adept at the job.

MIsinformation implies intent.  Never once have I intentionally given anyone false info. I'm human with a poor memory, so I have published a few things that weren't correct. Gee, I made a mistake. How heinous of me dan.  Whatever will I do?

Not at all sure what the sympathy vote business is all about; unless you refer to my stated health issues. You wish to believe I'm f'n lying about that, so be it.  Just so happens I suffer from depression & am currently dying from heart disease, so if you'd like some medical records notating my condition or my many heart surgeries, give me an address danno.

And dan, sorry to burst your bubble, but no one is burdened by reading anything. They choose to do so. If they don't like it, they stop. Not sure where you derive your ideas of right & wrong or truth & lies, but you should immediately begin shopping at a different outlet sir.  Your current supplier is letting you down big time.

And dan; if I can accomplish nothing in this life besides annoying the likes of you, I consider it a success.   Please take your overstuffed bag & run along now, okay?                             Thanks dan.                   :-)

when the site is busy everyone gets a jumpy meter regardless of what they say...

Thats not totally correct ....but there is enough arguing in here so I will leave it at that. When the site is busy everyone gets slow load times but meter skips have nothing to do with how busy the website is otherwise the meter would never work on this game as this site is always busy.

    OK,

WGT - How To Prevent Swing Meter Glitches & Lag - Swing Meter Cheat

    Are WGT To Blame?

So first of all it would be good to analyse exactly where the problem lies. When we talk about a swing meter glitch we are talking about the little bar at the bottom of the screen that moves when you take a shot. The idea is to click your mouse at the exact time the meter moves over the sweet ding spot. To do this you want a nice smooth meter. If it stutters or jumps it is almost impossible to hit the ding and play an accurate shot.

The fact is that if you browse the forums on WGT you will see literally hundreds of players complaining about jumpy meters, lag, stutter, glitches and a whole host of other problems. So are World Golf Tour to blame for this? Well quite simply, no! They spend hours working on the meter and have produced a piece of technology that in the right conditions will run perfectly every time. That is the key though, it has to be in the right conditions.

So basically when you see a glitch on the swing meter, it is because there is a problem with your computer. For everything to run smoothly you need a fast system where there are going to be no external factors causing the meter to jump or stutter. The people at WGT can do nothing to control what is going on on your computer while you play the game. So how can you control the environment that you play in.

    Controling The Swing Meter

Some people claim there are wgt cheats and a swing meter cheat. This however is not how good players shoot low scores. They simply have good quality computers that rarely glitch when playing the game. So how can you make sure that you are one of these players and thus increase your chances of hitting the ding? Well first of all it will depend upon what type of computer you are playing on. The general feeling is that a desktop will perform far better than a laptop, there are of course exceptions to the rule but generally speaking if you have a desktop you are better using that for playing World Golf Tour.

Another issue that can effect the performance is the server. If there are large amounts of people playing the game and people using the internet at the same time, it can sometimes slow things down a little. Not everyone subscribers to this particular theory but if you play at quite times of the day you do seem to find there are less glitches.

The most important thing to consider when playing on WGT is to make sure you have no programs running in the background. Streaming music, downloading files or worst of all running scans will severely enhance the likelihood of jumps and glitches in your swing. Even having windows open in the background that may auto refresh at the wrong moment can cause a lag in the meter.

So the best way to make sure you will have a nice smooth ride is to make sure you close everything down, make sure your computer is performing to the best of it’s ability, play on a desktop and try playing when there is going to be less demand for the game.

    BOBTX61:

    Andyson.......

Saw your comment just now.  Hey, I haven't had ANY meter problems here on WGT.....since I installed (2) programs.

    CCleaner.com & Advanced System Care 6

With CCleaner.......it's a VERY FAST SCAN......removes cookies and just about everything else.  However, when I'm playing, say 18 holes, I stop, and do another scan, as cookies and other junk continue to load up on my computer.  This SCAN takes maybe 20 to 30 seconds.  GOOGLE it and look for a FREE download of it.

Also, with Advanced System Care 6 (I found a FREE download)......this SCAN takes from 20 to 30 minutes.......it gets rid of spyware, adware, malware, viruses, etc.  Also, this program does a complete DEFRAG (which basically reorganizes a lot of your hard drive....so, it will operate more smoothly.

METER PROBLEMS, I believe, are a direct result of COOKIES as well as the other issues I mentioned above.

Really, those TWO programs have completely resolved MY METER ISSUES!  Also, when you are surfing the Internet.......and NOT on WGT, be aware that nearly every site you visit is leaving COOKIEs....or worse....BUT, using these TWO programs to SCAN after you're done surfing......will ensure your computer is back running normally once again.

    Bob

^^^^^^^^^^^This stopped most of my issues. When it starts to get a bit jerky, I take a few moments and clean with these programs and things return to normal.

For me the meter can get a bit jerky if other programs on the computer are calling home, when installing programs it is a good idea to set them not to search for updates if the option is available.

Adobe is the worst culprit of all, it calls home every 5 minutes it seems.

While I believe people can take steps to have a mostly smooth meter, I do not believe it absolves WGT of all responsibility to code a smooth meter.

nothing about cookies...save the drama guys, for a diff post

Can cookies cause meter problems?  A cookie is only data saved in our browser with info about a user relating to a particular web site.  The key point being its only data and can't by itself affect the CPU.

That said, why couldn't the presence of a cookie trigger a message being sent to some analytics server?  Many of the ads we get on WGT are Flash files that are small programs and not merely photos and a link.   That Flash ad could read our cookies and send a message back reporting that this WGT visitor also visited sites X, Y, & Z.  That message is added work, likely small, for our CPUs.   But still added CPU work.  Some go to great lengths to reduce their CPU load to get a decent meter.  I won't say it's likely a cookie can cause a stutter, but I won't say its impossible either.

Can busy WGT servers or slow internet cause meter problems?  I used to think no, WGT's meter can run without an internet connection.  However, after learning how Flash internally processes work I've changed my view.  Yes, delayed responses from servers can mess with our meter.  Much the same way friend list updates can.  I won't bore you with the technical explanation here.  But you can read it in my January post here.

    hyena64:
The only meter issues I've ever seen was last summer when flash went nuts for everyone.

Are you referring to the Chrome pepperflash debacle last summer that only affected Chrome users and not everyone?  Or perhaps there's some other flash issue I'm overlooking?

Yes Andy. That's what I'm referring to, & you know damn good & well it is!  How many times do I have to tell you people I don't have a memory of which to speak?

I'm not making fun of your illness.  But if you hadn't joined the hyperbole parade to stress the point you only had a meter issue when everyone had a meter issue, I probably would have let the misinformation go.

Since you know you have a memory problem wouldn't it be smart to check before you hit the Post button?  I often check my facts before posting since I think credibility is very important.

To me, this was total sarcasm,

I won't argue, I did suspect it was the issue, so I will bow to your expertise on the subject.

    hyena64:
You must consider one thing Andy:  If one has a memory issue, wouldn't it stand to reason that one wouldn't necessarily see the need to check a fact, as they have the memory issue in the first place?

    IMO, no.
