True, in Hong Kong in is very tonal and Cantonese is very very hard to pick up. My employer wanted all Gweilos (literally means White Ghost) to learn Mandarin.in our own time. Well I went to the first lesson and got a pile of homework to do!!! Well I worked 2-3 days per week depending on schedules and played golf the rest of the time - how the heck could I make time to study?
Needless to say, sadly I can only speak one language.
