Corwyn: CerinoDevoti: Corwyn and I played our final round on Kiawah. Thanks Shiner for the Tourney.
I had an extraordinary time, having played Kiawah a couple of times last few days and not been able to putt to save myself, I found they were going in from all distances today (except a miserable 2ft miss on #4 after this lovely approach). I finished with an astonishing 206.52 total distance made putts (by a long shot my best ever, incl. #9, #13,#14, #17)... but I was utterly abject from tee from green, finding trouble everywhere.
For some reason, it was easier to sink no-hope long bombs for bogies and doubles: no pressure, I guess...
I feel awful that my final round post prompted ill-feeling, so in the interests of transparency, I am now posting my 'real' pics and full stats.
I wasn't exaggerating when I talked-up the putting. I really did sink all those long bombs, and did end up with 206.52 ft of total distance putts. I know there are awards for these, but I had assumed they were impossible to get. It seems that you would need a combination of this kind of set-up, where you're playing starters and unevens and unlikely to get close to the pin, and then also to have an incredibly lucky putting day. What are other people's records for this stat?
As it turned out, poetic justice was served, as my stupid 2 ft miss on #4 ended up being the difference between our team and Hans & Mizzy.
As a peace offering, I did do some work on stats for the tourney, which I hope you all find interesting. I was curious to see if my strategy was at fault for our team's less than ideal scores.
So, looking at this spreadsheet, you can see a percentage stat next to the combined better ball score. It's a calculation of how much better the combined score is than half of the aggregate single ball scores for the team.

Please forgive any errors. It's been put together quickly, and some teams' data wasn't available. Also, I took the liberty of adjusting Cerino's RSG score, as he blew 4 shots breaking windows in the house behind #18, when his score didn't matter any more. I'm sure there are others' for whom something similar happened, so we shouldn't read too much into the individual scores.
What impressed me was how much better the combined scores of teams like Unbeatables were. Despite scoring many more bogies between them, the 2 winner's bracket teams consistently got a better team score percentage. It confirms my feeling that I wasn't aggressive enough for this format, being still stuck in mindset of making par, because it's uneven starters. Birdies were the key here!
And it's no surprise that Hans and Mizzy finished with the best solo aggregates and the most birdies.
Best rounds of the tourney were: Hans and Cerino with 66's at CCC (here are Cerino's impressive stats from that round), alosso and yours truly with 67's at RSG, Wesdog's fabulous 66 at St A's, and my own lucky 68 at Kiawah.
Anyway, apologies again, and hope this stat-fest is of interest.
And thank you to Shiner for creating and seeing through this great tourney! You did a fantastic job!
Cheers, Corwyn
