  I taught students who were much like you, but most of them actually grew up and are leading productive lives.  Believe it or not, I still hold out hope for you...once you get past your prolonged adolescence.

  If you're the litmus for that, I'm content where I am.  I'd rather be highly educated, funny, and have a personality.  I don't have any desire to be some obnoxious, punk-ass bully who decides to attack someone without provocation.  I didn't know you from a hole in the ground, and you thought you were "cool" enough to go after me - someone who hasn't said a word to you, and ordinarily never would.

  I was never a cool kid, nor a nerd (what's in between?). I find Mike's posts to be entertaining. Not everything he writes is fall over funny, but he tries and people have to credit him for that. They are simply jokes and we need more of them in a world gone mad. With the vast majority of Mike's posts, I see no basis for lighting him up. If a person makes an irreverent post, he/she is being juvenile. If a person challenges a vitriolic post, he/she is just a troll who is seeking gratuitous attention. If comment is made on a rambling post, or one that is rife with typos, they are referred to as grammar police, or far worse (seriously, how difficult is it to spell check?). This is a public forum.  It is designed for discourse of all types. What often appears lacking is the basic understanding of this concept.

  Let me put it this way...when I see multiple posts that denigrate women from a (supposedly) adult male, I'll call him on it every time.

  If this ruffles feathers or causes him angst, so be it.

  I certainly won't argue that...we all have to do what we consider to be the right thing. My missus is blonde..I tell her a lot of blonde jokes..my intent isn't to denigrate her (or any female), it's just that some of them are really funny. Stereotypes have been the basis for many jokes, used by both men and women, amateur and professional..sometimes, it's just a cigar.

  Colin, your posts are always thoughtful and considered and I respect your opinions.  The problem is that the guy in question has established a pattern of misogynistic posts that have little or nothing to do with humor, and as I said, I'll call him on it when I see it.
