    hi Andy

hope the surgery gets done quick and successfully ,i'm also from Kent and there doesn't seem to be many of us from the garden of England that play this game, maybe we can get a round in sometime .

can't believe i'm only NOW discovering this great thread ..

    so .. my name is 5214 .. i know, but seriously ..

born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa where i went to school & straight after had my compulsory stint in the military for 2 yrs .. the very last of that bunch after which it became voluntary .. likely the best 2 yrs of my life i'd never want to relive again ..

our country has changed tremendously over my life time as i grew up in the "apartheid" years .. proud to say i voted "yes" in our national referendum to allow everybody to cast their ballot ..

bit of a late developer and drifted during my 20's unsure of what i wanted to do .. decided to go away for a year to Zambia where i worked in the wilderness for a exotic timber logging company .. saw and experienced things there in raw Africa which i couldn't even begin to explain .. another highlight of my life.

during my time there i managed to stick my right hand into a buzzing circular bench saw which promptly removed my index finger at which time i figured it might be a good idea to get back to Cape Town and re-weigh my options.

started studying again & long story short i now work as a fin mngr for 2 non profits .. 43 yrs old, never married, no children i'm aware of, had enough girlfriends to cover 5 life times & happily operating as a bachelor still .. i guess the kinda woman that'll be able to tolerate my bullshyte has yet to cross my path plus she'll have to be nuttier than a bonged up parrot  ..  but i'm content and secure enough within myself to not need someone else to determine my happiness or sanity ..

discovered this game through good 'ol Google and it is my fav past time together with my other passion which is sim racing ..

met some great people on here & love to play some a/s with the fellas while trying to hit the ding with my "eff you" finger and chucking about friendly insults ..

thread of the year Renn .. hats off

What he said.   Great post Chris.   It's a wonder you aren't VEM'd into obscurity as you flip the game off with every shot. LOL         Sorry to hear about the digit!          :-)

lol .. no worries about the digit mate .. as long as i remain a 3 legged tripod, then a missing finger one can manage without ..

& thx Frapp, i try to see the funny side in most tings

Late reply by virtue of my absence, but great read Andy. I hope your recovery is speedy - pretty major surgery.

Can't say I blame you for leaving that grotty British weather behind lol and certainly a change in lifestyles!

And here a story you will relate to.  When I lived in Singapore I was offered the chance to visit the "New Water" Plant - turning peoples urine into drinkable water lol  and sold in bottles. Puts a new take on taking the piss! But facinating and yes it tasted like.........water.

I too love scuba diving but due to schedules I had to be ultra careful when I could dive due to pressurization and working - but I am sure I must have been a fish in a previous life (and no, not a shark - I don't play for credits!) Snorkelling works pretty good too.
