BRM55: Mr Tincher.
I lost touch with him when I moved away when I was 19 . It was many years later that I learned he was the course pro . I had no idea that for years I was getting free lessons . plus I got to play on that course for free .
When I went into Jr High he told me to join the Golf club at school , I was the only one to play in Jr High . We played at a local public course . Mr Tincher took me there with my dad one day , ( My Dad was a Scottsman that played in the old country ) . Mr Tincher showed me how to play each hole , He called it " Course Management " . So when I started playin in the school club I had to play with the High school guys . At first the Big boys didnt like havin a " Kid " with them and when I was matching them or posting better scores they hated me . But after a bit some of them would ask me for help . The next year I was just one of the guys .
To this day ( 45 +/- years later ) when I play I can still hear his voice in my head telling me how to make a shot or play smart .
I also remember my Dad telling me
" You do not need the best golf clubs to be a winner " .
