Here's one that has been mentioned before but probably never seriously considered by WGT.
Anyone who's played real golf knows that playing a shot with 100% power has a very high chance of going wrong. How about if the last 10% of the meter was red and going into that region instantly dropped all forgiveness from your clubs? Precision stays but forgiveness is gone. Miss the ding and you're in trouble, hit it and you're in the same place you would be if you played that shot right now.
This wouldn't apply to putters, we have the option of using a longer meter so a bit pointless.
It might help make the scores a bit more realistic and would bring a very welcome risk factor into the game. At the moment we can hit a 3 iron well over 230 yards and unless the ding is well and truly missed the ball is still going to land close to where we aimed.
I'm far from being one of the top players here but I curse myself when the ball lands more than 3 yards from the hole. Tiger Woods would be delighted most of the time. Realistic? I think not.
