if you upgrade your balls i.e. they have extra distance, does that mean you have to back off  your meter to compensate for the extra distance in the ball.

for instance, if i were to hit an approach shot for 150 yds with the walmart ball, would i want to hit an upgraded ball with 2 dots of distance 148 yds to compensate?

    thanks

Good Question... and I have no Idea..lol  or haven't thought about it too much.

I would say the extra distance is off the tee.  I've noticed that if 2 players have the same club but different golf balls and hitting the same shot with no spin off the tee, then the ball with more dots distance will go further...basically (depends on where the ball bounces too).

With approach shots, then I just go by what the distance to flag is and of course wind and elevation.

yeah i just didnt know if it would make a difference on long approach shots.....the extra 1-2 yards of distance could make a huge difference on the green.

The Srixon XV balls fly 2-5 yards farther with each iron in my bag, compared with cheap WGT balls. Punch shots & flop shots included.

Yes this is a very good question....

It should be tested out one day.....  Both players have the same clubs and golf balls....  hitting ding....  might have to compensate in the results for different yardage to pin on the approach.

Maybe people in the Mutli player games can keep an eye for it

yeah im thinking the first hole at st andrews with irons and low wind might be a good test.

That's a good hole to test it on.  Due to my slow brainwaves, I only can use the max balls....but I'll ask a few of my cc members to test it and hopefully get back soon.

The guys checked it out last night.

Off the tee, hitting with the same clubs, no spin, dinging... the ball with the more dots go further.

Approach shots are just about impossible to test like this, unless you have the the 2 balls sitting besides each other, so they really couldn't tell because of different distances.

I'll keep and eye open,  I know I've ended up sitting on top of another ball once or twice, so if it happens again... I will check it out.

I'm just trying to think out the approach shots...  I think that it will be hard to tell if more dots make a difference, because you are going by the yardage to pin and calculating from those figures, but I suppose....  if your using a house ball, that will drop sooner than a nike would... hence the extra dots. Then the dots for spin will come into the equation.
