ok so -- im not a complainer/whiner blah blah blah....but after all of the lockouts, "problem with the game", cant rejoin - end up forefiting BS that happened today (3x) and then to come back to a VEM scenario that is unlike anything I have ever seen, I am starting to understand all of the biatching I see here on the boards - I mean whoa....this is stupid.   No let me rephrase that - I am stupid ---- for coming back and asking for more.

There is variability - I get it, Ive seen it, Ive lived with it - some days magically "you cant miss" others its a struggle - fair nuff ...but when 90yrd wedges fly 106yrd with a 5mph wind in your face (on a shot that you've successfully completed a hundred times) that is stupid.  Or when the wgt force field engages when your putt (seemingly tracking perfectly to the bottom of the cup on a putt you just made 20 min before) suddenly veers off to one side - for no reason - putt after putt after putt - that is stupid.  Or the shot you've dinged (perfectly aimed for a 7 mph x-wind btw) ends up in the lake at Congress (with.....you guessed it.........a brand new ball) - that is stupid. Or the.....Or the..... Or the......too many to name today for sure - and I know it was not just me....others in groups I was playing with noticed heavy interference with VEM today.

I am not coming off one bad round here - but three consecutive individual rounds today that I quit on (yes I quit on) and several other AS games (that i did not quit) because of this utter  nonsense  and  silliness.......

Im rounds away from making legend - at lvl 72ish - after 3 months in the game -- the thought of having to spend more money on balls (and more importantly the requisite gear to compete from the tips) makes me want to throw up.....I am simply not in control and have no idea what the result of a well executed shot would be like - even when I hit the bloody ding.  So WGT why should I stay?  Tell me --- Why? (I know many will say just leave if you dont like it - I get that-- and its a viable and likely option) ----- but as a business WGT, what kind of customer satisfaction do you think you derive by implementing your IP in this fashion? You are pissing off the very customers that are giving you their CC #s and social information - which I imagine have significant value to you.

Moreover Im probably a model (albeit gullible) customer to boot - joined in mid dec....upgraded gear twice (each time only lasting 3-4 weeks), balls gallor, all purchased with a CC  - and I get this?

I now deeply understand where many of you are all coming from and I proudly join the ranks of those who say ----booooooooooo wgt booooooooo.....

sorry all - rant over, thanks for putting up with another WTF WGT thread...just had to vent as today was just surreal....SUR>>>>>>REAL

    jeff out....

(oh and yeah - coulda/shoulda posted this somewhere else in the forum....but I care about that as much as mr wgt cares about his customers......)

I have seen more than my share of late. Today has been painful as far as loading, the long waits for reverse view, and yes the wtf shots.

    LOL

I recently found a real life "WGT golf club" and thought I'd give it a go.  It seemed rather quiet so it looked like I'd have no problem getting a tee off.  I walked into the Pro shop, was greeted with a smile and handed a card, and got straight onto the 1st tee.  Excellent!

Knowing my game well, I set up for my drive and hit it perfectly.  It sailed beautifully and settled in the middle of the fairway and long.  Then, just as it stopped, what looked like a groundsman ran out from the tree's, grabbed by ball, carried it over to the fairway bunker, and threw it in.  What!!??

When I got up there my ball was not only in the bunker, but had been trodden on and buried!  I looked over at the guy and he was wearing a fluro yellow tabbard that said "VEM - Play it as it lies or withdraw".  He just shrugged.

I managed to dig it out of the bunker and put my third onto the green.  I read the putt from every angle and was sure that a firm stroke on the left edge would save my par.  Then, just as I hit it a blower vac started behind me and blew my ball against the break and past the hole.  What!!???  The same guy with the tabbard just looked at me and shrugged with an almost inaudible "unlucky"....

I thought "screw this!" and marched straight back to the Pro shop to complain.  It had a sign up "Closed for 14 days - unless you're here to buy stuff."

I put my clubs back in the car and decided to go into the clubhouse and have a drink.  There, in the middle of the floor was something called "Ready Go Roulette".  I thought maybe I could still extract something from my visit so i walked over and tossed $10 on red.  The guy working the table leant over, took my $10, and replaced it with $8.  I said "WTF man, I bet $10!"  He said "sorry Sir, for no really explainable reason we take 20% of all Ready Go bets."

When I left I realised why it was so easy to get a tee off at this club.  The only good thing was I was able to park very close to the Pro shop and clubhouse.  I was the only car in the parking lot!

I agree - there are some days, no matter what you do, you will not score well. VEM will get you - green speeds not as shown, breaks not as shown, your lie is just that - lies - clubs will go further with a 40 - 50% lie then they will off the fairway

And, on other days, you can miss the ding, and still shot below par rounds - not certain what the % is, but I will guess something around 20% of the time you will have a good game. Likely around 40% your game will suck, and that other 40% will be close to what your score should be.

I completing understand.  Yesterday I decided to play the monthly Oakmont 18 tourney.  I made an eagle on #4 and when I teed off on #7 I was 6 under.

    Then something happened.

Made par on 7 and then the putts couldn't find the hole and bogyed 8 and 9.  Making the turn at -4.

Got to #13 and made a Hole in One, back to 6 under.  Made 2 more birdies, including #18. Finished -8 with an eagle and HOI.

Later I played a ranked round at Olympic, hole the approach from 232 yards on #1 for eagle.  Ended the round -7.

I have made a HOI on #2 at Merion and #6 at Merion, but they were pure luck.

The game seems to have lots of glitches, on approach shots and definitely on putts.

Its golf people. There are variables. You ever hit a perfect 5 iron in real life and have it go 15 yds shorter than normal? Of course you have. It happens.

This is a game. If you hit your 200 yard 4 iron exactly 200 yds everytime there wouldnt be much fun to this game. Variables are what keep you coming back, just like in real life.

Get over the "wah" "me" factors and play the game. Its all part of it. Or if you dont like the game, go do your wifes chores list.

I have my share of WTF shots but I have yet to whiff (miss the ball entirely at the cost of a stroke) or top the ball or duck hook or slice into the next county. Works for me.
