Here's my situation.. At Congressional on the 6th with a 9 mph wind blowing from left to right.. I'm using the box that shows my yardage as a guide to place my marker. I hit my shot from the tee full power slight top spin on the ball.. I hit the ding landing it just left of center on the fairway.. My approach shot has that same 9 mph wind.. Knowing I have water on my right I move my marker once again using my yardage box as a reference.. I actually moved slightly more to my left than I did off the tee.. Only difference was I put a little backspin on this shot and I was hitting a 3 wood.. Full power and hit the ding again.. Beautiful shot.. Then two thirds of the way there it goes right like a freakin Barry Zito curve ball.. Did the 3 wood and that little bit of backspin hold me up that much longer than the drive off the tee allowing the wind to get a hold of the ball.. I never complain about shots going a stray but this was insane.. Thanks for listening.. I'm going to Staples now to purchase a new mouse.. The old one is in the hallway and I think some of it's in the kitchen..

We all need reminding of this from ime to time.  Remember a "low" trajectory driver is NOT affected by the wind as much as a "higher" trajectory 3 wood.  the 3 wood will require greater compensation for wind than the driver.  Don't know if this is what affected your shot or not..just giving a general "overhead" statement for any reader to file into their memory bank....lol

Backspin on the ball sends it higher so the wind has more affect on the ball.to  minimize the effect of wind try to keep the ball lower ie topspin.

ITs crazy the only way to put top spin in a ball if a Putt, of if you top it :)

You should have saved the replay so you could see if the shot took off in line where it was aimed or if took off in line with the flag. My guess is the shot took off in line with the flag.

That's why I keep a foam football, also have a foam brick, have been known to throw both of them on one shot.  I used to punch the wall but my wife complained about all the holes in the rec room and I lost to much time repairing them.

Controlling my urge to shatter my mouse into the wall after a bad shot has been a key issue in my anger management classes. I'm down to replacing one mouse a month- significant progress.
