    Dubfore:

I like the sound of that, but I regretfully have to say, I will need time to practice with a wedge, I've never used it on a green.  Are you in Tightrope?

Maybe. Anyway, wedging on green is not that hard but I have not done it for a while. I think you'd basically hit for double the distance and take off a bit for the roll.

But I am amazed that people still talk about the rules. If it's legal. Putting competitions are not bound to "the rules of golf", it is a special kind of competition that has it's own rules. One of of those rules is: You only get one shot.

"Rules of golf" does not say that you should measure the distance to the whole, mark it and then move on. You are supposed to actually get the ball into the hole. I guess that makes putting blitzes illegal then? I guess we must demand that WGT takes them down.

Hey Dub, I'm not saying valid points were not brought up. All I'm saying is beating a point to death is not the way to get to your objective. Creating a tournament with your own rules, to me anyway, would be the way to get your cake and also enjoy it. Asking WGT to bend a rule or change one is an exercise in futility. They can't even pay their prizes they so readily offer. If you think all I've said is nonsense, than that is your entitled opinion. And I'm Rose, not Rosy. No offense Rosy.

How do you know that people play by the rules if they are not enforced by the game?

I can't speak for others, but if the rules stated only one type of club is allowed, I would either not enter or I would abide by the rules as stated. The poem "The Man in the Glass" comes to mind when I hear of people cheating or breaking the rules.

I guess you missed the point. We'd like to suggest to WGT that they add a rule for which clubs that can be used. Just telling them to not just use wedges is like making a tournament named "Full top spin only" and expect people to play it like that by their own free will.

I did not miss your point at all. You are saying that people can't be trusted to follow the rules and have to policed by the game maker. Although you are likely 100% correct, I only said what I would do in such a tournament. Our CC has had some starter club tourneys and I don't think for one second that any of the members played with anything but the designated equipment. I know I certainly did not.!
