TM R1 Driver L98 available 4 all topplayers

  With the upcoming Virtual US Open it would be a nice gesture towards all Tour Legends and Legends 2 make the TaylorMade R1 Super TP 8.0 Driver (L98+) available 2 them, regardless of their Level - or a minimum of level 90. Give them a 1 time opportunity 2 buy (eg when signing up 4 qualification), so we can have a fair and competitive tournament. Would be gr8ly appreciated.

  I think all level clubs should be available to Legend and TLs, i have seen TMs with this driver or the R11s, what makes them even want to bother to get to Legend, where is the reward for being a legend, NADA. Then again i am not spending another dime after i get my last ATV wedge except on balls in this so called pro shop, its old stuff nobodys playing or new stuff for lower level players and nothing really for Legends, and whoever says the R11 driver is an upgrade to the G20 is nuts, no forgiveness at all, played with it all weekend, spent more time in the rough than ever and my driving pct is 87.10, fairways and greens my friends.

  Agree with this post.  I joined wgt in July '09 and have played 3,100 ranked rounds since then.  So in 45 months of play I've averaged nearly 69 rounds per month or a little better than 2 ranked rounds per day.  I should have no problem earning enough points to be at a high enough level to get any new equipment wgt comes out with but, the catch is, I rarely play on weekends so I don't build up the consecutive play bonus points the way many players do and am instead another 100,000 pts from lvl 97.....will probably take me another year to get to lvl 98 and the r1.  It'd be nice to have it available right now & I'm sure there are a bunch of players(likely in the same boat as I am) that would buy it instantly were it available.

  With that said, no I don't think you have to have this club to win the open & yes, the players who manage the greens the best will be fighting for the win.  My putting, not my r11,  will keep me from contending for a high finish but I give it a go none the less! :-)

  You likely know this, but not everyone does. You don't have to play a full 9 to get the cons. days points.If you have 2 or 3 minutes on a weekend to log on and play just one hole (by clicking WGT golf courses), you will get your points for that day. Just pick a quick par 3 and you got 'em.Hope this helps .

  all i know is if it cost 150 credits i'd buy it lol.  I used one this weekend (thank you for the free rental) and apart from the desire to do well, the new spots it put me in after teeing off did bring a spark of fun to me.  It's always fun to hit a new club and try to figure it out and this is true from what I got out of the free rental.

  I'd buy it if I could but as the above posts make clear, it's not a huge help on every hole that's for sure.  At least it wasn't for me.  This club would probably not be the full time driver and would depend on the course.  RSG is a fun one to try it out on.  Quite a few new fairway mounds to find and boy does that club give plenty of roll.

  I like it, I like the R11s too.  Both are quality

  Well it was a good jolt to the memory anyway lol.  I do remember when this option was first mentioned but I have never used it.  We're out goofing off most weekends but it'd be easy enough to log in on a laptop and get a hole played.......just never have even thought of doing this for some silly reason.  Thanks for the reminder! :-)

   Why is it that the Legends and Tour Legends always feel that WGT owes them something ? Its always the same old song, open up the pro shop and roll out the red carpet . If you want the top clubs, then put your time in just like everyone else. How is this fair to the Legends and Tour Legends , who have put their time in, and earned their top clubs ? Why should those of you who dont want to play up the levels , get to have the same clubs as those who do? Dont try to use the Tour Legends , as an excuse as to why you cant compete. My 2 cents.   It was suggested that "it would be a nice gesture"  NO Legend or Tour Legend "feel that WGT owes them something"...
