All joking aside, are you checking the wind down range? Although you may have the wind at 6 o'clock behind your back out of the tee box and you ding it percfectly the wind can change further down the fairway. So what seemed like a perfect shot down the middle may veer to the left or right into the rough or worse, into the Weeds, in which case you lose your ball. Of course if you miss hard to the left or right of center you are definately going to lose your ball somewhere anyway. But I seriously doubt that WGT is doing anything intentionally to make you lose your balls. I know it's a bummer, it's happened to me a few times too. Even more so because I use the Nike RZN balls and they are not cheap! If you are not already doing so take the little extra time to check the wind conditions down range before you tee off then adjust for it. Just a thought...... Vic :)

For the same reason a lot of people don't know the difference between "there" and "their"?

Ok, Try this, it helps me a lot:

When you have water to your right, and wind is blowing in that direction, try a pull, you may really pull it, or ding it... You know Congressional? I always do that with a left wind. On 18, I never try to be faster than the meter, I could smoke a cigar while the meter is running and then click, sometimes I even ding it. Many would say they don't have that... well I do and I rarely lose a ball and my GIR is over 91. I do believe some holes the meter becomes supersonic while in others is slower. Look where the hazard is, look at wind speed and you may determine/ predict what the meter is going to do. That tree to the left at Congressional... meter is slower 90% of the time, even more so with right to left wind, but if you aim too far right, it will probably go faster... If you have a strong wind from left to right, .....faster, but if you aim too far into the rough thinking it will be faster, and then hurry to click, ..guess what, it won't... at least in most cases... Same for putts, aim too far and meter seems to go like molasses, aim too close and it goes as fast as possible and you may ding what you don't want.. Have always played like that and helps me a lot. Mind that WGT changes meter speed... not a big difference but I can notice it.

Yeah I know your pain. Lost 2 playing yesterday back to back shots . The meter sometimes has a mind of its own . So dont let it get to you , just play on , and have fun. Happy Swinging

Also keep in mind that on courses with more tree lined fairways the effect that wind has on your shot could be less than on a links style course with little or no trees. Especially on shots with the 3 wood and 3 and 4 iron that will fly lower than the more lofted clubs and might not go high enough to be above tree level. I for one believe that WGT programmed that into the game. And in one case where everyone says that right to left cross winds don't affect the shot as much as it should. And that is # 17 at St. Andrews. Has anyone considered that the huge hotel setting off to the right just might cut down the affect of the winds there. I have.

I believe this too and BPB#8 comes to mind. That hole plays so inconsistent off the tee to the front pin that I have to believe the trees on either side affect the shot by changing or shielding the wind. BPB#12 is the same way with a left to right wind. The drive doesn't get moved if you aim along the tree line on the left.

LOL. This might bring some derision because it's pretty deep for a video game but a few comments by the announcers at the Masters this past weekend seem to bear it out. One of them alluded to that exact scenario of the loft getting above the trees and how it affected the shot on Saturday when the wind picked up. They also talked about how a wedge into one of the greens didn't back up because of the wind. How many times do you see a backed up wedge here go into high gear reverse when hitting into a wind?  :-)
