There is a well-known "traditional" equation for results and numbers of ranked stroke play vs. average and tier-up, as posted by Wake here.

Other elements are working, yet not so clearly determined/published by the users:

    - credit wins, mostly in tournaments, (?help to advance with less rounds and higher average?),

    - match play wins against higher tiers (?drop the average?).

Parts in brackets are my guesses.

Other games like A/S, Blitz, Skins apparently are not involved in this subject.

I was winning a lot in RGs at TM and planning to sandbag before I got to average ~61 but got busted and punted to Legend at 62.2 average.

I honestly believe I would have rinsed 10k+ in credits had I not been pushed up. A lot harder to win credits at Legend :(

Those charts' average scores still hold true, mostly.  But, the ranked rounds vary greatly now.  If you play matches, you used to be able to never move up............but now if you beat a higher tier, your avg drops in some cases by more than a full stroke.

You could be a TourMaster tomorrow, hypothetically, and beat 4 Legends in match play and be a Legend yourself by Tuesday.

The minimum ranked rounds are no longer a measuring stick, but still hold true for when your avg will no longer climb but only drop in ranked stroke play.

    SHRUDE:
You need at least 500 ranked rounds as Legend before reaching Tour Legend

And FWIW, after making Tour Legend, you need an additional 500 ranked rounds for your average to stop increasing. I just crossed the additional 500 round threshold mark a few weeks ago, and 500 ranked rounds is a very accurate number.

    Just sayin'

Thanks to everyone for all the great responses.  Master is tough.  If I want to compete at a high level on this tier, I will have to upgrade equip, but Im not chipping in any more $... I was self sustaining at the "tour pro" level.  Maybe that was the reason WGT bumped me up a tier! HA!
