  I have only ever used AVG and have zero problems with viruses. Adblock, Malware and Spybot take care of everything else.  :-)

  Microsoft Security Essentials is fine. Couple it with Spybot, Ad-Aware, and stay off the Russian and porn sites and you'll be fine.

  I don't see any reason to buy anti-virus when there so many good free ones out there. The only thing you get with Norton and McAffee is less space left on your hard-drive.

  Avg is my partner and its the Best out there fo free and for life if you know how to get the codes and i dont lol but hey i works in the background all the time keeping yu safe i just sit back and drive

  If you dont download cracks and stuff like that dont see the reason to use an antivirus...  and if you do you can check those files with more than 40 antivirus at once uploading the file to: https://www.virustotal.com/ 4 years without using any antivirus, 0 problems... ;)

  AVG is a decent program, but runs in the background.

  Bitdefender is a program that runs silent in the background and has a simple user interface. This program is also totally free to use.

  Vipre also runs silent in the background, but has a bit more comprehensive user interface. This program is a free trial only.

  A few years ago I went to the Avast free antivirus and it has worked well. One virus did manage to get through last year but it was an easy fix.

  As has been said...AVG and Spy bot keep me clean!
